Evaluation of quality of colostrum on different sized dairy farms

Colostrum plays a crucial role in the passive transfer of immunity (PTI) calves. The quality and quantity colostrum have significant impact on PTI. objective this study was to assess dairy farms different sizes. A total 660 samples were obtained from 28 11 provinces Türkiye. divided into five groups according size: Group I (1–100, n = 26), II (101–200, 37), III (201–500, 200), IV (501–1000, 235), V (> 1000, 162). assessed by Brix refractometer (≤ 22% indicates poor colostrum) evaluated statistically. mean Brix% 27.74 ± 0.14. Groups I–V 24.04 0.72, 25.70 0.93, 28.11 0.26, 28.46 0.23 27.30 0.21, respectively. rate for cows 8.03%, it 34.61%, 29.72%, 6.0%, 5.53% 4.93%, rates primiparity 65.38%, 54.05%, 49.0%, 35.31% 43.2%, significantly ( P 0.014) lower primiparous (27.08 0.23) than multiparous (28.25 0.18). highest found II. This situation small may be due inadequate management feeding.
