Abstract Background Major depressive disorder (MDD) is one of the common and major causes suicidal behavior (SB). The purpose this study was to determine prevalence SB its factors influence among first hospitalized MDD patients in China, develop a predictive model for target population. Methods This recruited 981 with who were experiencing their hospitalization. patients' socio-pathological general clinical data gathered, along metabolic parameters thyroid function. In addition, assessed depressive, anxiety, psychotic symptoms, as well severity disease. Results Our revealed 13.46% patients. A variety symptom scores indicators identified risk SB, based on we further obtained good ability differentiate SB. Conclusion provides validated population suggests that addressed our could be better used early implementation preventive measures.

Alexithymia is highly prevalent and strongly related to adverse consequences in patients with schizophrenia. However, its associated factors remain largely unexplored. The present study aimed determine the prevalence of alexithymia association sociocultural characteristics, clinical symptoms, neurocognition, empathy 854 Chinese schizophrenia.Demographic information was collected through a self-designed questionnaire. assessed by Toronto Scale (TAS-20). We via following instruments: Positive Negative Syndrome Scale, Repeatable Battery for Assessment Neuropsychological Status, Interpersonal Reactivity Index. A multiple logistic regression model conducted independent correlates alexithymia.Approximately one-third (n = 277, 32%) schizophrenia had alexithymia. Patients significantly more severe negative impairment than without Being male, personal distress, empathic concern, language functioning were independently alexithymia. Our findings demonstrate high strong empathy, which calls timely screening intervention Targeting impaired function, affective might help reduce consequences.

Several pathologies involve bidirectional peripheral activity central system action molecules such cytokines, hormones, neurotransmitters. These humoral signals, present in optimal quantities, are responsible for maintaining physiological homeostasis, mood states. Stress elevates cortisol proinflammatory cytokines levels alter neurotransmitters balance, thereby increasing risk developing psychiatric disorder subsequently suicidal behavior. This review provides an integrative perspective about neurochemical, immunological, endocrinological disturbances associated with behavior, particular focus on those alterations may serve potential markers and/or indicators state preceding tragic act.

This study aimed to explore sex differences in the relationship between thyroid function indicators and suicide attempts first-episode drug-naïve young major depressive disorder (MDD) patients with comorbid anxiety (MDA). A total of 917 MDD (aged 18-35 years) were recruited. The Hamilton depression rating scale (HAMD-17), (HAMA), positive negative syndrome (PANSS) subscale clinical global impression severity (CGI-S) used. 467 classified as MDA. prevalence was 31.3% MDA patients, which significantly higher than that (7.3%) without anxiety. Compared attempts, older, had a later age onset, HAMD-17, HAMA, PANSS symptom scores, well TSH, TgAb TPOAb levels. For male TSH levels independently associated attempts. female CGI-S score Our results suggest can predict have differences.

Background Childhood maltreatment is a well-established transdiagnostic risk factor for suicidal ideation; however, previous studies on their association in schizophrenia have produced highly varied results. Moreover, the mechanism linking childhood and suicide ideation remains unclear schizophrenia. Aims This cross-sectional study aimed to investigate between people with tested whether insomnia mediated this relationship. Method Positive Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS), Insomnia Severity Index (ISI), Trauma Questionnaire – Short Form Beck Suicidal Ideation Inventory were employed. Logistic regression mediation analysis performed. Results (a) The prevalence of ideation, insomnia, sexual abuse, emotional neglect, physical abuse neglect was 10% ( n = 61), 18% 111), 11% 68), 25% 153), 6.3% 39), 17% 106) 39% 239), respectively. In all, 52% 320) reported maltreatment; (b) patients demonstrated higher maltreatment. PANSS depression factor, ISI, lifetime attempts independently associated (c) partially effects completely ideation. Conclusion Our calls formal assessments schizophrenia, which might help identify early. addition, interventions targeting reduce among who experience

Background Understanding the interplay between psychopathology of alcohol withdrawal syndrome (AWS) in use disorder (AUD) patients may improve effectiveness relapse interventions for AUD. Network theory mental disorders assumes that persist not a common functional disorder, but from sustained feedback loop symptoms, thereby explaining persistence AWS and high rate The current study aims to establish network AWS, identify its core symptoms find bridges which are intervention target relieve break self-maintaining cycle Methods Graphical lasso were constructed using psychological 553 AUD patients. Global structure, centrality indices, cluster coefficient, bridge symptom used transmission pathways different clusters. Results results revealed that: (1) constitutes stable with stability coefficient (CS) 0.21-0.75. (2) Anger (Strength = 1.52) hostility 0.84) emerged as highest low clustering coefficient. (3) Hostility mediates aggression anxiety; anger impulsivity respectively. Conclusions be considered best targets researching treating AWS. anxiety, impulsiveness independent related dimensions, suggesting neurobiological bases involved play similar role syndrome.

Background This study aimed to identify socio-demographic, physiologic, and psychologic related factors of the first-time suicide attempt (FSA) in past 14 days Chinese adult patients with first-episode drug-naïve (FEDN) major depressive disorder (MDD). Methods A total 1718 FEDN MDD were enrolled this cross-sectional survey. Depression, anxiety symptoms, attempts assessed. Additionally, biological samples collected measured, while Logistic regression analysis was employed explore risk for FSA among patients. Results Among attempters, 12.11% (208 out 1718) reported experiencing days. showed that included more severe symptoms (OR=1.37, 95%CI: 1.28-1.48, p <0.001), higher levels cholesterol (TC) (OR=1.42, 1.13-1.77, =0.003), elevated thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) (OR=1.13, 1.03-1.25, =0.01). The model exhibited good discriminatory power an area under curve (AUC) 0.82. Conclusion TSH TC are likely develop These short-term (in days) may serve as indicators early intervention.
