Green gentrification is an emerging issue, where Urban green space (UGS) upgrades lead to higher living costs, displacing lower-income residents, raising concerns about accessibility, sustainability, and equity. This phenomena challenges the inclusive equitable development of urban environments. Through integrative analysis existing literature, this study aims address a significant gap in current research by exploring how Nature-Based Solutions (NbS) can more effectively counteract adverse effects UGS gentrification. Utilizing scoping literature review, analyzes articles from 2015 2024 synthesize insights for development. Findings reveal diverse lessons learned strategies countering across different settings worldwide. However, number studies predominantly focus on Global North, primarily Europe North America, which may regional bias. The results provide policymakers, planners, communities, guiding creation sustainable spaces. Further should developing quantitative metrics evaluate effectiveness NbS mitigating expanding geographic include underrepresented regions.

ABSTRACT Urban retrofitting is a fundamental approach for achieving sustainable and resilient urban development in the face of contemporary challenges. The increasing prevalence big data presents an opportunity to establish robust analytical framework retrofitting, enabling more effective comparative studies informed decision‐making. This paper introduces comprehensive 5R framework—Re‐inhabitation, Re‐building, Re‐transportation, Re‐capitalization, Re‐greening—to provide multidimensional perspective on retrofitting. facilitates holistic understanding transformation processes establishes standardized metrics analyzing initiatives using diverse sources. To demonstrate adaptability effectiveness real‐world context, we conduct case study Charlotte, North Carolina. By applying innovative methods integration analysis extensive datasets, our offers new insights into evaluation efforts, such as transportation accessibility, micro‐scale building improvements, investment patterns, green space enhancements, overall livability. addresses existing research gaps by providing structured set indicators that assess each dimension comprehensively. Beyond academic advancements, practical tools policymakers planners evaluate interventions, quantify their outcomes, understand dynamics evolving spaces. gained through highlight importance enhance scope impact strategies, ultimately bridging gap between theoretical concepts applications. Our findings potential serve guiding model sustainable, data‐driven growth revitalization.

Urban renewal projects aim to revitalize neglected neighborhoods but often result in gentrification and displacement. This study examines the ongoing revitalization of Brooklyn's Gowanus Canal, a Superfund site since 2010. Using David Harvey's spatial dialectics Giorgio Agamben's concept bare life, it explores how environmental restoration can unintentionally drive gentrification, displacing long-term residents attracting wealthier newcomers. Interviews with local residents, housing advocates, real estate professionals reveal tension between ecological improvements social equity. While cleanup efforts have boosted property values neighborhood appeal, they also heightened pressures on low-income residents. paper argues that equitable urban requires policies balancing progress protections for vulnerable communities.

The move toward electrification is critical for decarbonizing the energy sector but may exacerbate unaffordability without proper safeguards. Addressing this challenge requires capturing neighborhood-scale dynamics to uncover blind spots in residential electricity inequality. Based on publicly available, multisourced remote sensing and census data, we develop a high-resolution, spatiotemporally explicit machine learning (ML) framework predict tract-level monthly consumption across conterminous U.S. from 2013-2020. We then construct affordability gap (EAG) metric, defined as between bills 3% of household income, better identify energy-vulnerable communities over space time. results show that our largely improves resolution data while achieving an
