Background: The interdisciplinary One Health (OH) approach recognizes that human, animal, and environmental health are all interconnected. Its ultimate goal is to promote optimal for through the exploration of these relationships. Antibiotic resistance (AR) a public challenge has been primarily addressed within context human clinical settings. However, it become increasingly evident antibiotic resistant bacteria (ARB) genes (ARGs) confer transmitted circulated humans, animals, environment. Therefore, effectively address this issue, must also be considered an livestock/wildlife problem.

Antibiotics and antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) used in intensive animal farming threaten human health worldwide; however, the common resistome, ARG mobility, host composition different manures mixed manure composts remain unclear. In present study, metagenomic assembly cross-sample mapping were to comprehensively decipher resistome its potential mobility hosts composts. In total, 201 ARGs shared among (layer, broiler, swine, beef cow, dairy cow) accounted for 86-99% of total relative abundance ARGs. Except multidrug, sulfonamide, trimethoprim genes, most was significantly lower than that manure. Procrustes analysis indicated residues positively correlated with but not composts. More 75% subtypes between plasmids chromosomes our samples. Transposases could play a pivotal role mediating transfer phyla composting. Cross-sample contigs carrying showed had preference on species, dominant genus shifted from Enterococcus Pseudomonas The broad range linking diverse mobile genetic elements (MGEs) two key factors ARGs, such as sul1 aadA, which survive during multidrug represented pathogenic antibiotic-resistant bacteria be effectively controlled by composting. Our experiments revealed manure, classified quantified hosts, assessed Composting can mitigate altering bacterial hosts; persistent escape removal because MGEs. Our findings provide an overall background source tracking, risk assessment, control livestock

The intensive use of antibiotics in the veterinary sector, linked to application manure-derived amendments agriculture, translates into increased environmental levels chemical residues, AR bacteria (ARB) and antibiotic resistance genes (ARG). aim this review was evaluate current evidence regarding impact animal farming manure on pool environment. Several studies reported correlations between prevalence clinically relevant ARB amount classes used (high rates being for medically important such as penicillins, tetracyclines, sulfonamides fluoroquinolones). However, results are difficult compare, due diversity antimicrobials quantification techniques different amounts types antibiotics, exhibiting various degradation times, given feed countries. soils fertilized with products harbor a higher chronic abundance ARB, multiple ARG an enriched associated mobilome, which is also sometimes seen crops grown amended soils. Different processing have efficiencies removal ARGs, but there only small data from commercial farms. efficiency sludge anaerobic digestion appears be dependent microbial communities composition, ARB/ARG operating temperature (mesophilic vs. thermophilic conditions). Composting seems reduce or eliminate most enteric bacteria, representative more rapidly effectively than lagoon storage. Our highlights that despite body research accumulated last years, still knowledge gaps contribution AMR emergence, accumulation, spread risk human exposure countries high clinical rates. Land microbiome before after application, treatment decreasing natural environments along food chain must investigated depth, covering geographical regions using harmonized methodologies. support stakeholders required development specific best practices prudent - cautious farm animals. reserve medicine unprescribed should stopped farms limited. This integrated approach needed determine optimal conditions ARG, formulate recommendations livestock treatment, storage handling procedures translate them practical on-farm management decisions, ultimately prevent population.

Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a ubiquitous public health menace. AMR emergence causes complications in treating infections contributing to an upsurge the mortality rate. Combating antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is among the 10 global health issues identified by World Health Organization (WHO) in 2021. While AMR a naturally occurring process, inappropriate use of antibiotics different settings and legislative gaps has led to its rapid progression. As result, grown into serious menace that impacts not only humans but also animals and, ultimately, entire environment. Thus, effective prophylactic measures, as well more potent non-toxic agents, are pressingly needed. The activity essential oils (EOs) supported consistent research field. Although EOs have been used for centuries, they newcomers when it comes managing infections clinical settings; mainly because methodological largely non-overlapping there insufficient data regarding EOs' vivo toxicity. This review considers concept main determinants, modality which issue globally addressed potential alternative or auxiliary therapy. focus shifted towards pathogenesis, mechanism several against six high priority pathogens listed WHO 2017, new therapeutic solutions required.
