Beta-lactam drugs hold a central place in the antibacterial arsenal, and production of beta-lactamases by drug-resistant bacteria has severely compromised effectiveness nearly all available beta-lactams. Therefore, face increasing threat drug resistance, combined use beta-lactamase inhibitors (BLIs) with beta-lactam antibiotics is crucial for treating infections caused bacteria. Hence, development BLIs always been hot topic field medicinal chemistry. In recent years, significant progress made screening active enhancing affinity enzymes stability their complexes, based on design concept competitive inhibitors. Here, we review effects mechanisms newly synthesized various to provide ideas subsequent

A total of 366 tonsillar tissue samples were collected from healthy free-range pigs owned by farmers across 12 districts in Baise City, Guangxi, China. This initiative successfully isolated six strains Carbapenem-Resistant Enterobacteriaceae (CRE), including four Escherichia coli , and one Klebsiella aerogenes Morganella morganii . Assessments utilizing Carbapenemase inhibitor enhancement test, conjunction with the ResFinder resistance gene database, revealed that five carried bla NDM-5 gene, while strain possessed NDM-1 gene. The overall positivity rate for CRE was determined to be 1.64%. Conjugation tests further demonstrated ability NDM genes transfer recipient strains. Additionally, an analysis genetic environment surrounding showed similarities among within same geographic region, suggesting these may have originated a common ancestor spread horizontally different clones. study provides valuable insights into transmission

New Delhi metallo-β-lactamase-1 (NDM-1)-producing bacteria are resistant to nearly all available β-lactam antibiotics and have become a public health threat. Antibiotic resistance often carries fitness costs, which typically manifest as reduced bacterial growth rate. Here, we investigated the mechanism of cost in NDM-1-producing bacteria. Our findings revealed that strains expressing bla
