Purpose To investigate the association between sleep duration and age-related macular degeneration (AMD). Design Cross-sectional study, bidirectional two-sample Mendelian randomization (MR). For cross-sectional analysis, we used survey data of 5,481 participants aged ≥40 years from 2005 to 2008 National Health Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES). MR sleep- AMD-associated genome-wide studies (GWAS) involving large populations. Methods The AMD was assessed using logistic regression models. primary approach for analysis inverse-variance weighted (IVW) method. Results In after adjusting multiple covariates, short (SSD) found be associated with increased risk early [odds ratio (OR) = 1.364, P 0.036). supported results analysis: SSD increases (β 0.102, IVW- 0.003). Conclusion Our findings provide evidence supporting deficiency higher AMD. Further are required confirm our elucidate mechanisms underlying this association.

Color vision is a critical aspect of human visual perception, yet traditional assessments often lack quantitative precision. The Rabin Cone Contrast Test and its successors offer objective, standardized measurements cone-specific contrast sensitivity. These tests improve the detection classification color deficiencies can facilitate monitoring deficits in inherited retinal diseases, cone dystrophies, optic neuropathies, brain injuries. Integrating testing into clinical practice presents more reliable, reproducible, functionally relevant evaluation, highlighting value disease diagnosis, characterization, management.

To determine the prevalence of red-green (RG) color vision deficiency (CVD) in an elderly population and its related factors. This report is a part Tehran Geriatric Eye Study: cross-sectional population-based study that was conducted on (≥60y) Tehran, Iran using multi-stage stratified random cluster sampling. All participants underwent complete ocular examination, including measurement uncorrected best-corrected visual acuity, objective subjective refraction, slit-lamp biomicroscopy. The tested Ishihara plates with near optical correction place.Of 3791 invitees, 3310 participated study. data 2164 individuals were analyzed after applying exclusion criteria. R-G CVD 3.73% (95%CI: 2.37%-5.09%) whole sample; protanomaly, protanopia, deuteranopia 1.51%, 1.76%, 0.45%, respectively. significantly higher males than females. RG increased advancing age from 2.91% group 60-64y to 5.8% ≥80y (P=0.070). According multiple logistic regression model, male sex, glaucoma CVD. Older hypertension also had marginally significant relationship CVD.Changes occur due aging process some physiological pathological factors. Since change perception may affect person's performance, this aspect system's function should be taken into consideration examinations elderly.
