The Rome IV criteria for functional dyspepsia (FD) has strict requirements symptom frequency and onset duration, making it difficult patients to meet these in clinical practice. This study aimed investigate the impact of relaxing on diagnosis pattern FD. A cross-sectional, multi-center was conducted involving 2935 consecutive broadly defined FD without positive findings upper gastrointestinal endoscopy or routine examinations. Questionnaires were used collect demographic data. Symptom compared between those by relaxed criteria. Only 22.2% rigorously fulfilled No significant difference found proportion with dyspeptic symptoms, dysmotility-like reflux-like as well severity symptoms (all P > 0.05), who didn't fulfill solely due a duration 3–6 months patients. Patients postprandial distress syndrome (PDS) 1–2 days per week had significantly lower (P < 0.001), but similar characteristics criterion 3 may be sufficient diagnosing Reducing no less than 1 day PDS does not affect its characteristics.

Yeokwisan (YWS) is an herbal medicine prescription consisting of six oriental medicines, developed to treat reflux esophagitis. We focused on developing analytical method capable simultaneously quantifying 13 compounds in YWS samples using high-performance liquid chromatography–photodiode array detection (HPLC–PDA) and ultra-performance chromatography–tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC–MS/MS) exploring their antioxidant effects. All examined both systems were chromatographically separated a SunFireTM C18 (4.6 × 250 mm, 5 μm) column Acquity UPLC BEH (2.1 100 1.7 gradient elution water–acetonitrile mobile phase. Antioxidant effects evaluated based radical scavenging activity (DPPH ABTS tests) ferrous ion chelating activity. In two methods, the coefficient determination regression equation was ≥0.9965, recovery range 81.11–108.21% (relative standard deviation (RSD) ≤ 9.33%), precision RSD 11.10%. Application optimized analysis conditions gave quantitative results for 0.02–100.36 mg/g. Evaluation revealed that baicalein baicalin exhibit significant activity, suggesting they play important role YWS.

Background Observational studies have suggested associations between functional gastrointestinal disorders (FGIDs) and variations in the cerebral cortex. However, causality of these relationships remains unclear, confounded by anxiety depression. To clarify causal explore mediating roles depression, we applied univariate, multivariable, mediation Mendelian randomization (MR) analyses. Method We utilized genome-wide association study (GWAS) summary data from FinnGen database ENIGMA consortium, identifying genetic variants associated with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), dyspepsia (FD), cortex structures. Data on depression came a large meta-analysis. Utilizing bidirectional univariate MR approach, explored correlations FD, IBS, variations. Then, independent effects were assessed through multivariable MR. A meta-analysis results, incorporating two cohorts, aimed to increase precision. also potential Results Our findings indicate negative correlation FD thickness rostral anterior cingulate (rACC) across both global regional adjustments (β = −0.142, 95% confidence interval (CI): −0.209 to-0.074, P.FDR 0.004; β −0.112, 95%CI: −0.163 to-0.006, 0.003) positive globally adjusted superior frontal gyrus (SFG) 0.107, 0.062 0.153, 0.001). The rACC persisted after multiple variable −0.137, CI: −0.187 to-0.087, 1.81 × 10 −5 ; −0.109, −0.158 to-0.06, 0.002). significant was found surface area caudal (cACC) IBS (odds ratio 1.267, 1.128 1.424, 0.02). analysis showed that neither nor mediated relationship FGIDs Conclusion research provides evidence This not only confirms two-way communication along brain-gut axis but illuminates underlying pathophysiology, paving way for therapeutic approaches.
