Background Pruritus ani (PA), a neurofunctional dermatosis, is one of the most common complications hemorrhoids, which seriously affects quality life patients. Medical hemorrhoid gel (MHG), product mainly composed herbal medicine, widely used for treatment PA clinically. This study aim to assess alleviating effect and mechanism MHG on based rectal epidermis-spinal cord-brain axis using animal models. Chronic pruritus, or persistent itching, is a debilitating condition that severely impacts quality of life, especially in palliative care settings. Traditional treatments often fail to provide adequate relief are associated with significant side effects, prompting interest alternative therapies. This review investigates the antipruritic potential eight medicinal plants: chamomile (Matricaria chamomilla), aloe vera (Aloe barbadensis), calendula (Calendula officinalis), curcumin (Curcuma longa), lavender (Lavandula angustifolia), licorice (Glycyrrhiza glabra), peppermint (Mentha piperita), and evening primrose (Oenothera biennis). These plants analyzed for their traditional applications, active bioactive compounds, mechanisms action, clinical evidence, usage, dosage, safety profiles. Comprehensive searches were conducted databases including PubMed, Web Science, Scopus, b-on, focusing on vitro, animal, studies using keywords like “plant”, “extract”, “pruritus”. Studies included regardless publication date limited English-language articles. Findings indicate compounds such as polysaccharides vera, curcuminoids turmeric, menthol exhibit anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, immune-modulating properties. Chamomile alleviate itching through anti-inflammatory skin-soothing while offer antimicrobial benefits alongside relief. Evening primrose, rich gamma-linolenic acid, effective atopic dermatitis-related itching. Despite promising preclinical results, challenges remain standardizing dosages formulations. The highlights necessity further trials ensure efficacy safety, advocating integrating these botanical therapies into complementary practices. Such approaches emphasize holistic treatment, addressing chronic pruritus’s physical emotional burden, thereby enhancing patient well-being.

The treatment protocol for CKD still being debated its unclear etiopathogenesis. Pregabalin, anticonvulsant medication, and sertraline, antidepressant been used treat uremic (UP) patients on maintenance hemodialysis. Objectives There are no adequate investigations comparing efficacy pregabalin particularly in under-resourced countries such Pakistan. Method research was randomized trial period four weeks at nephrology department Mayo Hospital, Lahore. A total 62 were randomly assigned take either (aged 48.06±13.44) or sertraline 47.45±10.97) tablet once day, 31 each group. group specified 25 mg first week, 50 second 75 third fourth week. Similarly, prescribed week remaining three weeks. However, if patient shows improvement lowest dosage, therapy same minimum dose proposed be continued. Lastly, itching score assessed 5D scale. Abstract Objective This study aimed to investigate the clinical characteristics and risk factors for pruritus in patients with neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorders (NMOSD) evaluate its impact on patient quality of life. Methods Patients NMOSD at Department Neurology our hospital from December 2021 August 2023 were followed up by outpatient visits or telephone interviews.
