Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the protective effects of pumpkin seed supplementation against lead-induced hepatorenal toxicity in Gallus gallus domesticus. Material and Methods: Young chickens were divided into four groups: control (G0), lead-exposed (G1), seed-treated (G2), combined lead (G3). Lead acetate (0.4 mg/kg body weight) powder (300 administered for weeks. Liver kidney function tests (ALT, AST, ALP, bilirubin, urea, creatinine), lipid profiles (LDL, HDL, cholesterol, triglycerides), antioxidant enzymes (CAT, GPx, GR, SOD) analyzed. Histopathological evaluations liver tissues conducted. Data analyzed using SPSS 25, with P < 0.05 considered significant. Results: exposure increased ALT (14.6 ± 0.01 IU/L), AST (2210.7 10.31 ALP (1970.4 1.07 bilirubin (0.7 0.00 mg/dL), LDL (56.9 0.91 mg/dL). Pumpkin reduced (110.1 8.84 (1360.5 1.00 (22.9 1.04 improved enzyme activities. Conclusion: mitigates oxidative stress improves function, presenting a natural strategy reduce heavy metal poultry.

According to the US Department of Agriculture, more than 4000 types beans are cultivated in United States and worldwide; nevertheless, demand for continues rise. To some extent, diet can treat inflammation consequently reduce chances developing comorbidities, such as diabetes. A based on alternative plant protein sources, beans, is a sustainable solution overall health due overconsumption meat that characterizes Western societies even important regions suffer from malnutrition, Africa. Reviewing nutritional profile different varieties produced various locations would help enhance their quality, strengthen role producer groups, protecting Geographical Indications (GI), thereby increasing simplification, sustainability, transparency towards consumers. PubMed-Medline, Web Science, Scopus, Cochrane Library databases were searched relevant articles published by 30 March 2024. The results have given green light reform EFSA rules, strengthening claims GI each variety, also highlighting public demands functional foods aspects this product its impact disease management or prevention.

Various environmental, food security and population health problems seem to be related intensive agriculture production worldwide. This type of system impacted the loss biodiversity natural habitats; high usage rates agrochemicals resources had affected soil composition, human health, nutritional plant quality in rural areas. Intercropping agroecological systems that respect agrobiodiversity could significantly benefit ecosystems, by modifying profile content some health-promoting bioactive compounds species cultivated this system. Research on intercropping strategies focuses benefits they can offer ecosystems less nutrient leaving information scattered when theme should more studied due critical impact it provide for nutrition. Therefore, review aims collect viable details investigation status nutrients verifying different regions world with unique mixed crops using species, along criteria combining them, as well analyzed show what contribute availability quality.

Mesoamerica is the center of origin a great number food crops that nowadays are part healthy diet. Pre-Columbian civilizations utilized more than 90% these foods as ingredient or in main dishes, well for remedies and religious ceremonies. Since several years ago, Mesoamerican have been recognized by their outstanding concentration bioactive compounds, including, phenolic pigments, essential fatty acids, amino peptides, carbohydrates vitamins, which provide health benefits. As result unique composition, ancient positive effects, such hypoglycemic, antioxidant, anti-obesity, anti-inflammatory, anti-ageing, neuroprotective, anti-diarrheal, anti-hypercholesterolemic capacity. Hence, this review focused mainly anti-obesity antioxidant potential some most cultivated, harvested, commercialized consumed, native Mesoamerica, like, nopal its fruit (Opuntia ficus indica spp.), chia (Salvia hispanica L.), pumpkin (Cucurbita spp.) cacao (Theobroma cacao).

The association of maize (Zea mays ssp. mays), common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris), and squash (Cucurbita ssp.) within the milpa represents most emblematic multi-cropping subsistence system Mesoamerica. This was likely established in Guerrero-Jalisco area southwestern Central Mexico shortly after—or perhaps even before—the domestication three taxa. Its success relies on several factors: complementarity nutritional intakes, resilience to biotic abiotic constraints, mobilization positive interactions between taxa, enabling be productive under input-limited conditions. Higher yields compared sole-cropping have frequently been described attributed aerial root systems different taxa milpa, as well direct indirect facilitation processes involving exudates, bacterial symbioses, mycorrhizal network. In Europe, while practiced until recently, has gradually abandoned favor sole-cropping, except some isolated regions (such Transylvania) where this traditional agricultural persisted. question whether varieties used were co-introduced Europe at time discovery Americas, opposed being re-associated later remains open. It is important note that usage differed: flint type coarsely ground for preparation polenta Mesoamerica, tropical are soaked alkaline solution improve quality before finely make tortilla dough. Recently, maize-bean intercropping reintroduced into modern European systems. However, use elite chemical inputs conventional conducts prevents full exploitation species. We argue here an role play agroecological transition. context, we propose avenues selection promote synergies species discuss constraints linked its mechanization.

Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and cancer are significant contributors to morbidity mortality worldwide. Recent studies have increasingly highlighted the potential of phytochemicals found in plants plant-based foods for preventing treating these chronic diseases. Mexico’s agrobiodiversity provides a valuable resource phytochemistry. This review presents an examination essential within Mexican that shown promising anti-cancer anti-diabetic properties, including their roles as antioxidants, insulin sensitizers, enzyme inhibitors. Notable compounds identified include flavonoids (such quercetin catechins), phenolic acids (chlorogenic, gallic, caffeic acids), methylxanthines (like theobromine), xanthones mangiferin), capsaicinoids (capsaicin), organosulfur alliin), various lipids (avocatins). Although promise laboratory animal studies, there is scarcity clinical trial data involving humans, underscoring important area future research.
