The gut microbiota of healthy breastfed infants is often dominated by bifidobacteria. In an effort to mimic the infants, modern formulas are fortified with bioactive and bifidogenic ingredients. These ingredients promote optimal health development as well infant microbiota. Here, we used INFOGEST in vitro batch fermentation model investigate health-promoting effects a commercial formula supplemented blend containing docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) (20 mg/100 kcal), polydextrose galactooligosaccharides (PDX/GOS) (4 g/L, 1:1 ratio), milk fat globule membrane (MFGM) (5 g/L), lactoferrin (0.6 Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis, BB-12 (BB-12) (106 CFU/g). Using fecal inoculates from three assessed changes, effect, short-chain fatty (SCFA) production test compared those data obtained unsupplemented base breast control. Our results show that even after digestion formula, can still maintain its bioactivity modulate infants' composition, faster bifidobacterial growth, stimulate SCFAs. Thus, it may be concluded promotes SCFA profile something similar, but not identical infants.

Adequate nutrition during the first months of life is essential for newborns and infants to ensure their growth development. If women are unable breastfeed medical or social reasons, milk formulas become primary source infants. Modern infant developed with due account latest discoveries in science regarding growing body needs include various functional components that contribute a baby’s healthy However, histories creation evolution always interesting. The article describes how different nations approached issues feeding babies using alternatives breast milk, including goat’s cow’s as well plant-based formulas. Special attention paid research field medicine inspired safe nutritional Currently, rapid technological advancements can provide modern formula-fed oligosaccharides structures identical human oligosaccharides, polyunsaturated fatty acids (omega-3 omega-6) such docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) arachidonic (ARA) other useful components. New artificial and/or mixed from birth stand out particularly. Their composition meets all requirements production formula enriched combination 2′-fucosylated (2′-FL) galacto-oligosaccharides (GOS), which give long-range outlook use

Probiotics offer substantial health benefits, leading to their increased consumption in various food products. The viability of probiotics is a critical factor that influences the nutritional and therapeutic efficacy these foods. However, as often lose during production oral administration, effective preservation encapsulation technologies are needed overcome this challenge. This review elucidates diverse sources incorporation strategies probiotics, while systematically analyzing effects water transformation (ice front velocity, glass transition temperature, collapse temperature), processing conditions (food matrix, dissolved oxygen), gastrointestinal challenges (gastric fluid, digestive enzymes, bile salts) on probiotic viability. Effective strengthen encompass three primary domains: fermentation processes, techniques, methods. Specifically, include meticulous control (nitrogen sources, lipids, carbon sources), pre-stress treatments (pre-cooling, heat shock, NaCl stress, acid stress), optimized lyoprotectant selection (carbohydrates, proteins, polyols), synergistic freeze-drying (infrared technology, spray drying, microwave), bulk approaches (polysaccharide or protein-based microencapsulation), single-cell methods (self-assembly surface functionalization). Despite advancements, targeting specific matrices remains challenging, necessitating further research enhance
