This study explores the critical intersection between food security, sustainable development, and loss waste (FLW). Anchored in Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 2 12, research emphasizes importance of aligning efforts to end hunger with strategies reduce FLW. Food security requires consistent access nutritious food, yet insecurity persists, affecting millions worldwide, significant consequences for health, economic stability, environmental sustainability. The current review examines various policy approaches across different regions, highlighting how differing impact effectiveness FLW reduction enhancement. For instance, while some countries focus on legislative measures prevent loss, others prioritize innovative practices such as repurposing near-expiry or investing systems. also highlights practices, municipal restaurants Türkiye, which provide affordable meals minimizing waste, cooperative initiatives empowering women. Additionally, role artificial intelligence circular economy models reducing is explored, emphasizing need systemic structural reforms. Global like & Agriculture Organization’s “Save Food” campaign, along policy-driven banks awareness campaigns, underscore a collaborative effort governments, private sectors, NGOs tackle both symptoms root causes insecurity.

Food waste (FW) is a common source of contamination, contaminating both soils and water bodies by releasing greenhouse gases. FW holds great potential for biofuel bioproduct production, which can mitigate its environmental impact become valuable addition to the circular bioeconomy. Therefore, this work aimed investigate use food as substrate produce fermentable sugars bioethanol. was pretreated lipid removal. Raw treated hydrolyzed amylases. Also, using sulfuric acid under different residence times (20, 40, 60 min), concentrations (0.5, 1.0, 1.5% v·v−1), solid loads (5, 10, 15% m·v−1), temperatures (111, 120, 127 °C). The best reducing sugar concentration obtained at load applied 1 h °C. hydrolysis process more efficient (76.26% efficiency) than enzymatic one (72.7%). Bioethanol production carried out static submerged fermentation, with Saccharomyces cerevisiae 10% (humidity m·v−1) being used producer hydrolysates carbon sources. Lipid removal from did not influence or hydrolytic processes. For highest bioethanol yield hydrolysate raw (0.49 kg·kg glicose−1). Thus, processes were presenting alternatives sustainable destinations low-cost production.

The decades after the Second World War have seen economic growth and prosperity on an unprecedented scale. Yet this incredible turnover of raw materials energy into goods eventually waste has brought our planetary systems close to their limits, as witnessed most prominently, yet not exclusively, by climate change mass extinctions. Changing towards a greener, more sustainable circular economy without limiting wealth is attractive—yet does seem be easy or speedy enough save planet, its eco- social systems, inhabitants. In contrast, moving less demanding materials, focusing pursuit immaterial forms satisfaction happiness, requires alternative form hedonism. By cerishing quality time rather than heaps money, interactions material goods, even finite planet may allow indeed infinite amounts prosperity.
