The prevalence of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is increasing worldwide. Youngsters with ASD demonstrate higher rates intellectual disabilities (IDs), comorbid psychopathology and psychiatric hospitalizations, compared to children in the general population. This study characterizes demographics clinical parameters adolescent inpatients without ASD, all hospitalized during period. Additionally, within group, those ID were without. rate males among participants was significantly than duration hospitalization longer. In contrast, cigarette smoking, major depressive suicidal thoughts lower. One-third had moderate severe ID, about 10% epilepsy, half them demonstrated aggressive behavior. Most patients showed significant improvement upon discharge, although extent more prominent no ID. Abstract Background The current study aimed at investigating the efficacies of probiotics in alleviating core and associated symptoms autism spectrum disorder (ASD), which was not adequately addressed literature. Methods Randomized placebo-controlled trials were identified through searching major electronic databases from inception to Nov 2023. outcome interests included improvements total ASD. Outcomes quantitatively expressed as effect size (ES) based on standardized mean difference (SMD) with 95% confidence interval (CI). Results Ten studies 522 participants (mean age: 8.11) this meta-analysis. primary results revealed a significant improvement ASD individuals receiving compared controls (SMD= -0.19, p = 0.03, ten participants) but including repetitive restricted behaviors problems social or communication. Subgroup analyses demonstrated an association between use relative their only that used multiple-strain -0.26, five 288 those using single-strain probiotics. Our secondary outcomes showed significantly greater adaptation (SMD 0.37, three 139 trend anxiety group than control -0.29, CI: -0.60 0.02, 0.07, 163 failed show regarding irritability/aggression, hyperactivity/impulsivity, inattention parental stress. Little known about the relationships between traits in Hong Kong. Therefore, this study aimed to examine whether children have increased than non-autistic The secondary objective was factors an sample. Methods This cross-sectional recruited 135 102 same age range children, aged 6 12 years. Both groups were screened compared on their behaviors using Children's Sleep Habits Questionnaire (CSHQ). Results Children had significantly [ t (226.73) = 6.20, p < 0.001]. Bed -sharing [beta 0.25, (165) 2.75, 0.07] maternal at birth 0.15, 2.05, 0.043] CSHQ score top traits. Stepwise linear regression modeling identified that only separation anxiety ( beta 4.83, 2.40, 0.019) best-predicted CSHQ. Conclusion In summary, autistic suffered from co-occurring brings greater as children. Clinicians should be aware provide effective treatments autism.

To explore the association between maternal gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) exposure and development of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in offspring.A case-control study was conducted, recruiting 221 children with ASD 400 healthy as controls. Questionnaires interviews were used to collect information on general characteristics children, socio-economic family, pregnancy history, disease during pregnancy. Multivariate logistic regression analysis investigate GDM offspring. The potential interaction offspring gender explored. The proportion significantly higher group compared control (16.3% vs 9.4%, P=0.014). After adjusting for variables such gender, age, mode delivery, parity, education level, a risk factor (OR=2.18, 95%CI: 1.04-4.54, P=0.038). On basis above variables, after further including prenatal intake multivitamins, folic acid first three months pregnancy, assisted reproduction result trend did not change, but no statistical significance observed (OR=1.94, 0.74-5.11, P=0.183).
