Plum is one of the most produced stone fruits worldwide. Melatonin an environmentally eco-friendly substance that, in low concentrations, activates defence systems against biotic and abiotic stresses. This considered a tool that could increase fruit quality. study aimed to evaluate impact different preharvest foliar applications with melatonin concentrations (0.1, 0.3, 0.5 mmol L−1) enhance content shelf life ‘Primetime’ plum. To this purpose, two three were carried out at critical stages growth. Different quality characteristics such as size, colour, titratable acidity, total soluble solids, ripening index, respiration rate, ethylene production anthocyanins antioxidant activity, well endogenous content, tested harvest after 40 days cold storage. Results showed plums received 3 L−1 enhanced less softening, delayed darkening, higher anthocyanin concentration activity Therefore, was effective improving plums.

Apple polyphenols (AP), derived from the peel of mature-green apples, are widely used as natural plant-derived preservatives in postharvest preservation numerous horticultural products. The goal this research was to investigate how AP (at 0.5% and 1.0%) influences senescence-related physiological parameters antioxidant capacity 'Jinshayou' pummelo fruits stored at 20°C for 90 d.The treating fruit with could effectively retard loss green color internal nutritional quality, resulting higher levels total soluble solid (TSS) content, titratable acidity (TA) content pericarp firmness, thus maintaining overall quality. Concurrently, treatment promoted increases ascorbic acid, reduced glutathione, phenols (TP) flavonoids (TF) contents, increased scavenging rates 2,2-diphenyl-1-picryl-hydrazyl-hydrate (DPPH) hydroxyl radical (•OH), enhanced activities superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase, peroxidase, ascorbate peroxidase (APX), glutathione reductase (GR) well their encoding genes expression (CmSOD, CmCAT, CmPOD, CmAPX, CmGR), reducing electrolyte leakage, malondialdehyde hydrogen peroxide level, lower decay rate weight rate. The storage quality found be maintained best a 1.0% concentration.AP can regarded promising effective preservative delaying deterioration improving during room temperature.

γ-Aminobutyric acid (GABA) plays important roles in plant development, including the maintenance of fruit quality when applied as postharvest treatment. However, little information is available about effects preharvest GABA treatments. Thus, (10, 50 and 100 mM) was foliar spray at key points development three sweet cherry cultivars over two years. The results show that parameters, such total soluble solid content, titratable acidity firmness were higher from GABA-treated trees than controls, either harvest or during four weeks cold storage. In addition, phenolic individual anthocyanin concentrations also enhanced by treatments color improved. activities antioxidant enzymes catalase, ascorbate peroxidase most effective concentration mM, which led to extending storage period cherries with high traits up weeks, while for controls this weeks. treatment had a clear effect on delaying ripening senescence processes cherries, an additional enhancing content bioactive compounds, phenolics anthocyanins, properties health benefits.

Sweet cherry producers must deal with different climactic challenges annually, specifically the impact of spring frost and inherent risk fruit cracking. This susceptibility arises from simultaneous occurrence during bloom stage or sweet cracking at vulnerable maturity stages in trees persistent rainfall. Given change climatic patterns, implementation new strategies innovative approaches becomes imperative to alleviate potential damage these adversities. study aims explore—for first time—the effectiveness preharvest putrescine applications flowering ripening on-tree increase tolerance against adverse events throughout its development time harvest. In this context, foliar concentrations 1 10 mM were administered distinct cultivars, namely, ‘Prime Giant’ ‘Sweetheart’. Over course four growing seasons, our investigation focused on evaluating influence natural elicitor resilience flower buds period reducing selected cultivars. sense, overall malondialdehyde content exhibited a reduction treated putrescine, set experienced an across majority evaluated seasons. On other hand, incidence putrescine-treated cherries showed consistent all studied Our results indicate that treatments effectively significantly diminish cracking, thereby enhancing abiotic stress. Furthermore, we quality parameters harvest, including firmness, external color, total soluble solids, acidity. Generally, observed changes delayed as compared control batch remained unaffected. For reason, based emerges valuable strategy for adapting climate mitigating stress, potentially increasing production.
