ABSTRACT
Objective
Preference

choosing

place

exercise.

study
compared
adults'
healthy
lifestyle
behaviors

satisfaction
according
physical
activity
location
preferences.

Methods

Measuring
flow,
an
optimal
mental
state
defined
by
intense
focus
and
immersion,
can
provide
valuable
insights
into
research
on
human
engagement.
However,
a
review
of
69
studies
identified
significant
methodological
issues
that
could
be
undermining
progress
in
this
area
research.
We
discovered
the
use
eight
nonvalidated
psychological
flow
verification
instruments
(used
33
studies),
ambiguity
lack
transparency
interpretation
reporting
results
(36
screening
participants
with
only
two
for
disposition
to
experience
state.
Additionally,
despite
balance
challenge
skill
being
essential
precondition
inducing
state,
did
not
appropriately
match
flow‐inducing
activities
participant’s
levels.
These
measuring
through
self‐assessment
make
it
impossible
accurately
validate
hypothesised
states
using
physiological
approaches.
To
address
these
limitations,
we
propose
set
protocol
guidelines
integrating
measures
triangulate
indicators.
This
provides
robust
framework
will
allow
identification
real‐time
objective
alternative
subjective
instruments.
