Abstract Background In 2018, Canada legalized recreational cannabis use with the purpose of protecting youth and restricting access. However, concerns have been raised that this objective has not met as rates among aged 16–24 declined. Youth is associated various adverse effects including psychosis, anxiety, depression, suicidality, respiratory distress, cannabinoid hyperemesis syndrome, intoxications. Service providers play a crucial role in addressing use. This study aimed to understand Ontario service providers’ perceptions, practices, recommendations on Methods mixed method included survey two focus groups. The was distributed mental health serving across who were given option participate group. closed open-ended questions regarding recommendations, while groups explored these categories greater depth. Descriptive statistics used analyze close-ended interpretative content analysis applied for questions. Focus group data analyzed using thematic analysis. Results completed by 160 12 participated Regarding 60% participants agreed legalization, 26% had strong understanding medical versus cannabis, 84% believed physical risks, 49% perceived stigmatization. (−)-trans-Δ9-Tetrahydrocannabinol (trans-(−)-Δ9-THC) has shown neuroprotective potential, but its medicinal benefits are not fully exploited due to the limitations of psychoactive properties. The lower homologues non-psychoactive in nature lack comprehensive scientific validation regarding potential. present study describes synthesis THC-type compounds and their Both natural tetrahydro-cannabiorcol (trans-(−)-Δ9-THCO) unnatural Δ9-tetrahydrocannabiorcol (trans-(+)-Δ9-THCO) were successfully synthesized starting from R-limonene S-limonene, respectively, investigated for potential cellular models. structures both enantiomers confirmed by NMR, HMBC, HQSC, NOESY, COSY experiments. Abstract Background The dual diagnosis of cannabis use disorder (CUD) and severe mental (SMD) results in clinically complex individuals. Cannabis is known to have negative consequences on psychiatric symptoms, medication compliance, disease prognosis. Moreover, the effectiveness currently available psychotherapeutic treatments limited this population. In context, our research team developed avatar intervention, an approach using virtual reality as a therapeutic tool treat CUD individuals with SMD. Objective This pilot clinical trial aimed evaluate, until 1-year follow-up, efficacy intervention for among 32 participants SMD CUD. Methods Over course 8 sessions, were given opportunity enter dialogue representing person significant role their consumption, who was animated real time by therapist. primary outcomes quantity consumed frequency use. Secondary included severity problematic use, motivation change, protective strategies quality life. Results Significant reductions observed consumed, these maintained 12-month follow-up visit ( d =0.804; P <.001; confirmed urine quantification). Abstract Background Canada has one of the highest prevalence cannabis use globally, particularly among young adults aged 20–24 (50%) and youth 16–19 (37%). In 2018, legalized recreational with aim protecting by restricting their access raising public awareness health risks. However, there been limited qualitative research on perceptions harms associated since legalization, which is crucial for developing effective harm reduction strategies. This study examined from perspectives youth, parents, service providers. We explored how participants described perceived risks or use, as well they own others’ approaches to reducing cannabis-related harms. Methods used a community-based participatory approach in partnership Families Addiction Recovery (FAR), national charity founded parents addiction issues. Virtual semi-structured interviews were conducted, data analyzed using thematic analysis. Results The included 88 three key groups ( n = 31 26 providers). Two main themes emerged regarding use: (1) concerns about harms, including addiction, brain development, impact family, various adverse effects areas such motivation, concentration, finances, employment, education, physical mental health; (2) minimization featuring conflicting messages, normalization, being less harmful than other substances. Additionally, two related identified: implementation reduction, challenges implementing approach. Specific each participant group noted, along structural barriers unavailable inaccessible services, easy cannabis, inadequate insufficient information lower-risk guidelines.
