Abstract The Cognitive Assessment Interview (CAI) is an interview-based scale measuring cognitive impairment and its impact on functioning in subjects with schizophrenia (SCZ). It approved as a coprimary measure of performance-based instruments, such the Measurement Treatment Research to Improve Cognition Schizophrenia Consensus Battery (MCCB). Recent research highlights negative symptoms, social cognition, functional capacity mediators impairment’s functioning. This study compared mediation analysis outcomes using CAI or MCCB scores, providing insights into utility tools clinical practice. included 618 individuals diagnosed schizophrenia, recruited from 24 Italian psychiatric clinics. Neurocognitive assessments utilized both MCCB. Mediation analyses explored neurocognition real-life domains. study’s results extend validation that provides valid information possible mediators, complementing obtained Interview-based assessment might be essential for understanding complexity various domains clinicians, patients, caregivers.

In addition, with PSDs frequently present impairments cognitive domains, executive function, memory, attention, social cognition, which lead to difficulties independent living, employment, interpersonal relationships. This chapter explores the neuropsychological dimension psychosis provides thorough summary deficits linked PSDs. Cognitive impairments in patients with schizophrenia initiate a cascade of effects on daily functioning. A single impairment can affect the functioning entire cognitive system. However, relative interdependence among individual neuropsychological measures-whether performance specific test depends other tests-remains poorly understood. The study included total 1027 participants (522 and 505 healthy controls) from China. All completed comprehensive 9-test Measurement Treatment Research to Improve Cognition Schizophrenia Consensus Battery. To examine relationships, we employed Gaussian Graphical Models for undirected relationships Bayesian networks directed tests. Symbol Coding played central role exhibited downstream associations tests both controls. Network analysis showed significant between-group edge differences networks, particularly between Continuous Performance Spatial Span (SS), Managing Emotions (P = .018). consistent sequential pattern (Symbol → SS Maze Trail Making) was identified networks. Notably, connection uniquely present patient's network. Importantly, were as variables schizophrenia, showing extensive connectivity is fundamental association appears be stable feature schizophrenia. These findings may inform mechanistic insights into architecture.

Background: Cognitive impairment is a relevant problem in psychiatry and can be well assessed with cross-diagnostic test such as the Screen for Impairment Psychiatry (SCIP). The aim of our pilot study to assess cognitive acute psychiatric inpatients diagnosed psychotic disorders, bipolar disorder depression using German version SCIP (SCIP-G). We also investigate whether dysfunction improves over course inpatient treatment, where patients are offered combination pharmacological treatment remediation. Methods: A total 143 adult were included study. testing was performed two different forms SCIP-G. All received state-of-the-art pharmacotherapy remediation COGPACK® software package 6.06. Results: Based on ICD-10 Criteria Research, 54 given an F2 diagnosis (schizophrenia schizotypal delusional disorders). Thirty-nine met criteria (F30 F31) fifty (F32 F33). At baseline, significant difference observed between scores F32/33 (p < 0.001) F30/31 groups = 0.022). second measurement time point, score showed improvement all three 0.001), there no statistically interaction diagnostic 0.860). Conclusions: present disorders easily during hospital stay. In sample, more cognitively impaired at baseline than affective disorder. Inpatient consisting remediation, improved deficits. Patients similar improvements performance.
