Abstract Background Understanding the progression and recovery process of COVID-19 is crucial for guiding public health strategies developing targeted interventions. This longitudinal cohort study aims to elucidate dynamics severity evaluate impact underlying conditions on these transitions, providing critical insights more effective disease management. Methods Data from 4549 patients admitted Seoul National University Boramae Medical Center between February 5th, 2020, October 30th, 2021, were analyzed using a 5-state continuous-time Markov multistate model. The model estimated instantaneous transition rates different levels severity, predicted probabilities state determined hazard ratios associated with comorbidities. Results analysis revealed that most stabilized in their initial state, 72.2% moderate symptoms remaining moderate. Patients hypertension had 67.6% higher risk progressing severe, while those diabetes an 89.9% deteriorating severe critical. Although death low early hospitalization, comorbidities significantly increased likelihood worsening conditions. Conclusion highlights utility models assessing among hospitalized patients. findings indicate are likely recover than experience However, increase outcomes, underscoring importance managing

The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the critical need for pathogen detection methods that offer both low limits and rapid results. Despite advancements in simplifying enhancing nucleic acid amplification techniques, immunochemical remain preferred mass testing. These eliminate specialized laboratories highly skilled personnel, making home testing feasible. Here, we developed nanobody-based lateral flow assays (LFAs) of SARS-CoV-2 MERS-CoV single dual formats as point-of-care diagnostic tools. LFAs are sensitive successfully detected analytes at clinically relevant cutoff values. Additionally, our results confirmed have a long shelf life can be produced cost-effectively with ease.
