Abstract Background Barefoot social workers play an essential role in providing child welfare services, and their life satisfaction is critical but often ignored. Mental health literacy has been shown to be associated with satisfaction, yet the mechanisms underlying such association remain understudied. Guided by job demands-resources (JD-R) theory, this study aimed investigate mediating effects of burnout work engagement relationship between Chinese barefoot workers' mental for first time. Methods A retrospective cross-sectional involving 1252 was conducted from April June 2023. Pearson's bivariate correlation analysis identify correlations. The effect analyzed using SPSS PROCESS v.4.3. Results results showed that (r = 0.12, p < 0.01), (r=-0.14, 0.46, 0.01) were significantly satisfaction.
