Introduction During the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic, high levels of burnout were reported among healthcare workers. Abstract Background Academic mental health research is critical to understanding, treating and preventing poor health. Researchers often have their own lived experience of a condition, but despite potential exposure distressing material, the work-related quality life researchers not systematically supported in UK universities. Background: Respiratory infections pose a significant public health challenge, particularly among healthcare workers (HCWs). The COVID-19 pandemic exacerbated absenteeism due to respiratory illnesses, affecting workforce stability. Identifying factors influencing is crucial for resilience and effective care. Methods: This retrospective longitudinal study analyzed HCW diseases from 2017 2023 at the "Sf. Maria" Children's Emergency Hospital in Iași, Romania. Data 3827 HCWs were examined, including demographic occupational variables (age, gender, job role) disease types. Statistical analyses (chi-square tests, ANOVA, regression models) conducted using SPSS assess trends associated risk factors. Results: Sick leave peaked 2020 (8322 days) remained high 2021 (8134 days), gradually decreasing 2022-2023 but not returning pre-pandemic levels (~5000 days/year). Nurses accounted most days, while male staff aged 41-50 affected.
