Environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors are crucial in evaluating a company’s value. High ESG scores reflect ethical practices, social responsibility, effective governance. This paper examines the impact of criteria on firm value within airline industry, focusing their influence operational efficiency, risk reduction, financial performance. Using panel data analysis, study evaluates from 32 companies over period 2018–2023, with an explanatory power 36.5%. The research explores how integrating environmental, into strategic management can foster sustainable competitive advantage. The COVID-19 pandemic was a health, economic, and financial crisis. aviation sector one of the most severely hit. Despite extensive literature on this, COVID-Finance has been focused stock returns, neglecting what could be learnt from spreads airlines’ credit default swaps (CDSs). This would seem utmost importance, given epicenter crisis within market. In this paper, an in-depth analysis CDS is conducted. It found that they were hit, for all airlines studied. However, results PSY test showed speculative trading led surge, as explosive roots in these firms. dramatic increase contributed to already high borrowing costs airlines. Our suggest bail outs have helped mitigate spreads’ explosiveness. Monetary policy measures also limited, albeit indirectly, funding risk posed by government outs. By end March 2021, no longer explosive, approaching, at highly heterogeneous paces, their pre-pandemic values. Notwithstanding, prices notably resistant recovery.
