In recent years, interest in natural products with herbicidal activity as new tools for integrated weed management has increased. The European Union is demanding a reduction the number of herbicides used, forbidding use most toxic ones, despite problem resistance increasing. Pelargonic acid (PA) only herbicide available Spain. this work, two field assays were performed compounds carvacrol (CAR), citral (CIT), eugenol (EUG), thymol (THY), p-cymene (P-CYM), (PA), and combination PA CIT—all except P-CYM formulated by Seipasa—to test their efficacy real conditions. They compared commercial PA, glyphosate (GLY) oxyfluorfen (OXY). both experiments, GLY achieved best control. Considering herbicides, Seipasa plus CIT effective. From some conclusions can be extracted better performance products: (1) on sensitive species, (2) treat weeds at earlier phenological stages, (3) find active doses conditions, (4) cover well when treating, (5) ensure adequate formulation products, (6) develop strategy correct application.

Some of the current economic, social and environmental challenges could potentially be addressed by Precision Agriculture (PA) introduction. However, pace PA introduction is found to slower than expected in developed, transitioning developing countries, with adoption literature predominantly been focused on research developed world. This paper addresses these shortcomings identification explanation factors compilation regional ranking potential for 16 Polish voivodships. It contributes factors’ filling gap under-researched economies using Poland as a case-study. The key were identified Systematic Literature Review (SLR) based final sample 21 papers from journals indexed Scopus or Web Science databases organized 5 groups (socio-economic, agro-technological, financial, technological, informational factors). These formed conceptual framework voivodships application Sturgess rule. analysis shows clear “core-periphery” divergence: i.e., well-developed metropolitan areas got highest less peripheral regions ranked low.

Zerumbone is a multifunctional compound with antimicrobial, antitumor, hyperalgesic, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory applications, constitutes point molecule for the future synthesis of derivatives improved efficiency. This monocyclic sesquiterpenoid found in high content wild ginger (Zingiber zerumbet Smith), perennial herb economic importance as an ornamental well medicinal plant. The presence zerumbone distinctive feature that allows identification differentiation from other species, not only Zingiber, but also Curcuma, Alpinia, Boesenbergia, Ethlingera Ammomum spp., related families (Costaceaee). To successfully use areas such medicine, food agriculture, further research on improving its low solubility bioavailability, preservation, major current priority. In addition, despite promising pharmacological activities, preclinical clinical studies are required to demonstrate evaluate vivo efficacy zerumbone.

Abstract Among the alternatives to synthetic plant protection products, biocontrol appears as a promising method. This review reports on diversity of fungal secondary metabolites phytotoxic weeds and approach generally used extract, characterize, identify exploit them for weed management. The 183 discussed in this fall into five main classes molecules: 61 polyketides, 53 terpenoids, 36 nitrogenous metabolites, 18 phenols phenolic acids, 15 miscellaneous. They are mainly produced by genera Drechslera , Fusarium Alternaria . effects, more often described symptoms they produce plants than their mode action, range from inhibition germination root vegetative growth, including tissue organ alterations. biochemical characterization requires expertise tools carry out cultivation metabolite extraction, phytotoxicity tests, purification fractionation extracts, chemical identification procedures. Phytotoxicity tests carried under controlled laboratory conditions (not always whole plants), while effectiveness against targeted environmental impacts must be assessed greenhouses open fields. These steps necessary formulation effective, environment‐friendly metabolites‐derived bioherbicides using new technologies such nanomaterials. © 2023 Society Chemical Industry.

The European Union (EU) has set forth ambitious political objectives aimed at mitigating the adverse impacts of agriculture on climate, environment, and human health. Among measures which are expected to help reach goals, an important objective is significant reduction pesticide usage, as outlined in EU's "From Farm Fork" strategy. This study seeks assess potential financial implications use, focusing major crops cultivated Latvia. Scenario simulations have been conducted examine consequences usage intensity profitability, yields, consumption fertilisers. evaluation encompasses winter spring wheat, along with rapeseed, account for 80% total It assumed that farmers continue produce same crops, using their current level knowledge adjusting production technology reduced pesticides application rates. analysis leads conclusion order attain a use by 61% from 2021 (or 53% 2015-2017 level), rate needs be limited 0.78 kg ha −1 active substance conventionally produced wheat well addition area used these should 33% (replaced organic production). However, if market prices amount public support costs do not change, agricultural sector could severe – yearly farm profit analysed decrease 41% or EUR 130 mln.
