ABSTRACT A crucial point for the ecological transition toward a circular bioeconomy is represented by utilization of municipal biowaste novel uses in agriculture. Thus, vitro and vivo performance oxidized biopolymers (Ox BPs) obtained from organic fraction waste was evaluated against Rhizoctonia root rot southern blight tomato ( Solanum lycopersicum L.). Further, selectivity these on young seedlings. Effects Ox BPs were tested at 100, 1000, 5000 μg mL −1 reducing solani Sclerotium rolfsii mycelial growth decreasing relative infections tomato. The effective concentrations able to reduce 50% 95% (EC 50 EC 95 ) calculated according logit models minimum inhibitory (MIC) about 434, 4550, S. , whereas it possible calculate only (about 788 R. . In regard experiments, BP ppm achieved good reductions both fungal ranging 62% up almost 90%, phytotoxic effects not detected seedlings 3–4 4–5 true leaf stages. To authors' knowledge, this first report antifungal globally widespread soilborne diseases without detrimental host crop. However, further studies are needed confirm data; paper presents starting an eco‐friendly disease management approach recycling (organic C) biowastes within framework self‐sustainable ecosystem.
