In this study, FeCl3, AlCl3, CaCl2, and kaolinite were selected as model soil minerals incubated with walnut shell derived biochar for 3 months the was then separated investigation of biochar-mineral interfacial behavior using XRD SEM-EDS. The XPS, TGA, H2O2 oxidation applied to evaluate effects interaction on stability biochar. Fe8O8(OH)8Cl1.35 AlCl3·6H2O newly formed surface or inside pores. At interface, organometallic complexes such Fe-O-C generated. All 4 enhanced resistance by decreasing relative contents C-O, C═O, COOH from 36.3% 16.6-26.5%. Oxidation entire particles greatly increased C losses in 13.4-79.6%, recalcitrance index (R50,bicohar) TGA analysis increasing 44.6% 45.9-49.6%. Enhanced likely due physical isolation minerals, while complex formation probably responsible increase particles. Results indicated that mineral-rich soils seemed be a beneficial environment since could stability, which displays an important environmental significance long-term carbon sequestration.

Biochar is used as a soil amendment for improving quality and enhancing carbon sequestration. In this study, loamy sand was amended at different rates (0%, 25%, 50%, 75%, 100% v/v) of biochar, its physical hydraulic properties were analyzed, including particle density, bulk porosity, infiltration, saturated conductivity, volumetric water content. The wilting rate tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) grown in with various levels biochar evaluated on scale 0–10. Statistical analyses conducted using linear regression. results showed that density decreased linearly (R2 = 0.997) from 1.325 to 0.363 g cm−3 while the 0.915) 2.65 1.60 increased amendment, porosity increasing 0.994) 0.500 0.773 cm3 cm−3. mean content ranged 3.90 14.00 cm−3, 4.67 9.50, respectively, non-amended biochar-amended soil. These strongly suggest positive improvement following addition amendment.

Abstract This review summarizes the influences of pyrolysis conditions and feedstock types on biochar properties how in turn affect soil properties. Mechanistic evidence biochar's potential for enhancing crop productivity, carbon sequestration, nutrient use efficiency are also discussed. The identifies knowledge gaps, limitations, future research directions large‐scale biochar. Both pyrolytic parameters considered to be main factors controlling such as content, recalcitrance, pH. Biochar produced at low temperatures may improve availability yield acidic alkaline soils, whereas high‐temperature enhance long‐term sequestration. can inorganic organic fertilizers by microbial functions reducing loss, thereby making nutrients more available plants. Integration chemical or generally provides better management most soils. Although degraded it is not a panacea; such, soil‐ crop‐specific needed order ensure optimum agricultural sustainability.

Abstract Pyrogenic carbon (C) is produced by incomplete combustion of fuels including organic matter (OM). Certain ranges in the continuum are termed ‘black carbon' (BC). Because its assumed persistence, surface soils large parts world contain BC with up to 80% soil C (SOC) stocks and 32% subsoil SOC agricultural consisting BC. High high levels fertility some ancient containing charcoal ( e.g. , terra preta de Índio ) have recently been used as strategies for applications biochar, an engineered material similar but purposeful use a conditioner (1) mitigate increases atmospheric dioxide (CO 2 sequestration (2) enhance fertility. However, effects biochar on crop productivity cannot be generalized they biochar‐, plant‐ site‐specific. For example, largest potential yields were reported areas highly weathered soils, such those characterizing much humid tropics. Soils inherent fertility, world's important areas, appear less likely benefit from biochar. It has hypothesized that both liming aggregating/moistening improved productivity. Meta‐analyses not yet reported. To effectively climate change sequestration, net removal storage relative CO must occur persist several hundred years few millennia.
