Runs of homozygosity (ROH) are contiguous homozygous genomic segments that provide valuable insights into population history, selection pressures, and inbreeding levels. However, the global distribution ROH their implications for pig domestication breeding not yet fully understood. In this study, we analyzed whole-genome resequencing data from 1203 pigs across 49 breeds to characterize patterns worldwide. European commercial exhibited longer more numerous than Asian indigenous breeds, indicative stronger artificial higher inbreeding. Crossbreeding led a reduction in burden, with greater reductions observed when parental genetic divergence was larger. Notably, displayed distinct islands, reflecting divergent pressures. Functional analysis revealed these islands were associated growth, immunity, reproduction. These findings enhance our understanding diversity history populations, providing future strategies.

The Jiangshan black pig is an indigenous breed in China, renowned for its superior meat quality and adaptability to roughage. However, the population of pigs has dwindled due introduction cosmopolitan breeds outbreak African swine fever, putting them at risk extinction. To offer insights into conservation breeding pigs, this study involved 118 as research subjects employed Zhongxin-1 Porcine Breeding Array PLUS chip detect whole-genome SNPs. Additionally, various software tools were utilized accurately analyze genetic diversity, phylogenetic relationship, inbreeding coefficient, pedigree structure population. findings indicated that effective size (Ne) was 4.9, with average coefficient 0.253 within A relationship analysis identified 16 male clustered four families, 100 female also assigned these familial groups. Furthermore, two classified "other" their distant relatedness all males. These results contribute a better understanding current status theoretical foundation development strategies.
