Excessive consumption of fat and carbohydrates, together with a decrease in traditional food intake, has been related to obesity the development metabolic alterations. Ramon seed is Mayan used obtain flour (RF) high biological value terms protein, fiber, micronutrients, bioactive compounds such as polyphenols. However, few studies have evaluated beneficial effects RF. Thus, we aimed determine RF on high-fat-diet-induced mouse model. We divided male BALB/c mice into four groups (n = 5 each group) fed them for 90 days following diets: Control (C): control diet (AIN-93), C + RF: adjusted 25% RF, HFD: high-fat 5% sugar water, HFD water. The prevented increase serum total cholesterol (TC) alanine transaminase (ALT) that occurred groups. Notably, increased polyphenols antioxidant activity, it promoted adipocyte size white adipose tissue, along lower hepatic lipid accumulation than group. In liver, group showed an expression β-oxidation-related genes, downregulation fatty acid synthase (Fas) gene compared Moreover, had phosphorylation AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK), nuclear factor erythroid 2-related 2 (NRF2) superoxide dismutase (SOD2) may be nutritional strategy alterations during obesity.

Metabolic-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD), characterized primarily by hepatic steatosis, has become the most prevalent worldwide, affecting approximately two-fifths of global population. The pathogenesis MAFLD is extremely complex, and to date, there are no approved therapeutic drugs for clinical use. Considerable evidence indicates that various metabolic disorders play a pivotal role in progression MAFLD, including lipids, carbohydrates, amino acids, micronutrients. In recent years, medicinal properties natural products have attracted widespread attention, numerous studies reported their efficacy ameliorating subsequently alleviating MAFLD. This review aims summarize metabolic-associated pathological mechanisms as well regulate pathways alleviate

This study investigated bee bread's (BB) protective and therapeutic effects on acetic acid-(AA)-induced gastric ulcers via oxidative stress, DNA damage, inflammation, apoptosis. Rats were administered saline-(1ml) or BB-(0.5g/kg/day;1ml) by oral gavage once daily for 10-day following 80% AA-induced chronic ulceration in treatment group. Pretreatment group received saline BB before 3-day after ulcer induction. Stomachs of decapitated rats collected index, histological biochemical analyses. significantly reduced the index levels chemiluminescence, HMGB-1, IL-6, IL-1ß IL-8 pretreatment groups. In BB-pretreated group, MPO-(saline\BB, 39.9±3.7 U/g;22.2±2.2 U/g), caspase-3 (0.40±0.07 ng/g;0.18±0.01 ng/g) IFN-γ (15.46±1.76;9.51±1.95 decreased TNF-α (31.77±5.13;18.94±2.59 only BB-treated MDA, GSH, NRF-2, 8-OHdG remained unchanged. has demonstrated reducing ROS production, modulating inflammation

Antioxidants, Journal Year: 2023, Volume and Issue: 12(10), P. 1848 - 1848

Published: Oct. 12, 2023

The present study investigated the impact of saponins tomato extract (STE) on non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). findings demonstrated that introducing STE in NAFLD mice revealed promising results ameliorating symptoms oxidative stress, lipid metabolism disorders, visceral fat deposition and disease. Moreover, mechanistic studies have delivers its effects by activating adenosine 5′-monophosphate (AMP)-activated protein kinase (AMPK), thereby suppressing downstream expression associated with acid synthesis. In such conditions, can be improved. Simultaneously, enhanced nuclear factor erythroid 2-related 2 (Nrf2) entry into nucleus initiated transcription antioxidant factors, relieving stress induced a high-fat diet lowering damage to liver. Such imply administration regarded as viable treatment option for NAFLD, providing mechanism regulate AMPK Nrf2 signaling pathways.
