Cholangiocarcinoma (CCA) is a particularly aggressive and challenging type of cancer, known for its poor prognosis, which worsened by the complex interplay various biological environmental factors that contribute to development. Recently, researchers have increasingly focused on significant role biliary-enteric communication liver-gut axis in pathogenesis CCA, highlighting relationship has not been thoroughly explored before. This review aims summarize key concepts related investigate potential mechanisms may lead onset progression disease presents substantial treatment challenges. Important areas focus will include microbiome's profound influence, interacts with host physiology ways worsen cancer development; changes bile acid metabolism can create toxic environments favorable tumor growth; regulation inflammatory processes either promote or inhibit progression; immune system's involvement, crucial body's response cancer; interactions within metabolic pathways affect cellular behavior dynamics. By integrating recent research findings from studies, we aim explore multifaceted roles providing new insights perspectives future while identifying promising therapeutic targets could innovative strategies aimed at improving patient outcomes this disease.
