Salmonella enterica non-typhoidal is a major contributor to diarrheal diseases, with over 2600 serovars identified across diverse environments. In Mexico, Newport and Anatum have shown marked increase, especially in foodborne disease, posing public health problem. We conducted cross-sectional study from 2021 2023 using active epidemiological surveillance assess contamination ground beef pork at butcher shops nationwide. It involved isolation, phenotypic antimicrobial resistance, comparative genomics, spatial distribution, antimicrobial-resistance genes, pangenome analysis. A total of 402 S. strains were isolated, including 59 50 Anatum. After curating for redundancy, 45 32 remained. found that 75% exhibited multidrug resistance (MDR), compared 25% strains. also showed broader distribution stronger antibiotic-resistance capacity, particularly due genes such as mphA ramA. Our analysis predominance cell maintenance survival-process the accessory genome both serotypes. Considering unique notorious abundance functions related replication, recombination, repair. The substantial rise meat samples human consumption presents an alert, highlighting critical need stringent programs mitigate ecosystem risks.

Abstract Background Nontyphoidal Salmonella (NTS) is the most commonly reported foodborne gastrointestinal infection and ranks among top three causes of bacterial outbreaks in China. Methods This study analyzed NTS data from Foodborne Disease Surveillance System China (2013–2022) to summarize epidemiological trends, assess reporting rate changes, examine rural-urban variations. Results During this period, 55,266 cases were reported, with rates increasing significantly (AAPC [CRR] = 21.89%). Urban areas accounted for 70.06% cases, but rural patients had higher hospitalization than urban ones (41.54% vs. 33.69%, p < 0.001). Children aged 0–4 years constituted 53.59% showed (p 0.05). Typhimurium (31.07%) Enteritidis (15.89%) leading serotypes. strongly correlated national per-capita consumption fruit (r 0.98), poultry 0.95), aquatic products eggs 0.94), vegetables 0.79), dairy 0.73), meat 0.65). Conclusion highlights growing public health burden China, a sharp rise major differences. Over half involved children under 5 old, underscoring urgent need enhance food safety measures, particularly vulnerable populations.

Abstract Salmonella enteritidis is one of the most common pathogens that cause foodborne outbreaks and food spoilage, which seriously threatens human health. In this study, bacteriophage Salmp-p7 was isolated characterized from slaughterhouse wastewater. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) analysis showed belonged to Siphoviridae family active against Escherichia coli. Whole genome sequence a lytic with total length 60066 bp. vitro, antimicrobial curves inhibition biofilm removal experiments could effectively inhibit eliminate enteritidis. The application whole liquid infected eggs resulted in significant reduction viable bacteria egg liquid. conclusion, has high stability activity potential become new biological control agent for eggs.
