Spatially varying alignment of liquid crystals is essential for research and applications. One widely used method based on the photopatterning thin layers azo-dye molecules, such as Brilliant Yellow (BY), that serve an aligning substrate a crystal. In this study, we examine how conditions, BY layer thickness (b), light intensity (I), irradiation dose, age affect quality strength azimuthal surface anchoring. The anchoring coefficient, W, determined by analyzing splitting integer disclinations into half-integer at prepatterned substrates. strongest achieved b in range 5–8 nm. W increases with within same I. Aging non-irradiated coating above 15 days reduces W. Our study also demonstrates sealed photopatterned cells filled conventional nematic preserve their up to four weeks, after which time decreases. This work suggests optimization pathways photoalignment crystals.

The effects of CoFe2O4 nanoparticles on the properties an electro-optical liquid crystal cell based nematic composition 4-Cyano-4′-pentylbiphenyl (5CB) under influence different forms bias voltage were studied. Detailed results established for application sinusoidal voltages with various frequencies and amplitudes. At input signal, a frequency 500 kHz, resonant current increase was obtained in electrical circuit, followed by decrease frequency. This indicates formation consistent oscillatory circuit. quality factor nanoparticle system does not depend amplitude controlled voltage. In the rapidly evolving fields of Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual (VR), achieving high diffraction efficiency a wide field view (FOV) is critical for enhancing visual experience. This paper presents three-layer Polarisation Volume Grating (TL-PVG) structure designed to address limitations single-layer PVGs in AR/VR applications. By stacking multiple PVG layers with different tilt angles, TL-PVG achieves an expanded angular bandwidth improved efficiency, enabling brighter more immersive displays. The proposed incorporates polarisation multiplexing optimise optical by approximately 75%, thereby image brightness sharpness. experimental results demonstrate that significantly outperforms traditional PVGs, offering promising solution waveguide elements next-generation study provides comprehensive analysis fabrication process, properties, applications TL-PVGs, highlighting their potential revolutionise technology.

We examine light scattering in a birefringent material, namely uniaxial nematic liquid crystal possessing macroscopic orientation perturbations (variations of director planar alignment). Our theoretical analysis and direct experiments proved that the polarisation state scattered speckle-field is uniform elliptical (in common case). The ellipse azimuth waves mirror reflected to one directly transmitted relative optical axis.
