Abstract Introduction Herbal products are increasingly being used for their potential to promote oral health. Phytochemicals can act as scavengers of reactive or toxic chemicals, selective growth factors beneficial bacteria, fermentation substrates and inhibitors harmful microflora. Plant-derived secondary metabolites encompass a variety natural products, including alkaloids, polyphenols (including flavonoids tannins), terpenes, terpenoids, steroids, saponins, quinones, coumarins, glycosides, carotenoids. Objectives This review explores medicinal plant-based preventing treating diseases, offering updated insights into the scientific basis using herbs active ingredients in health care. Hence, we focused on: (1) phenolic compounds, most abundant common phytochemicals (2) terpenes diverse widely distributed group plant kingdom. Methods Several databases were queried acquire peer-reviewed studies focusing on major phytochemical compositions – terpenoids benefits. Results The lists numerous various forms applications dental caries, gingivitis, periodontitis. Conclusion evidence supporting health-promoting effects specific constituents with incorporation pharmaceutical formulations.

Abstract Background Population aging is increasing globally, with oral frailty affecting 24% of the older population. Previous studies have demonstrated relationship between and poor health symptoms but interactions core among these remain vague. Objective To clarify symptoms, explore intrinsic connections identify to provide more effective management treatment strategies for related issues. Methods The study conducted a cross-sectional from January 2024 April 2024, included 547 participants using convenient sampling method. adopted Geriatric Self-Efficacy Scale Oral Health (GSEOH), Frailty Index-8, FRAIL scale, including simplified hygiene index score (OHI-S), plaque index, periodontal pocket depth gingival teeth numbers tooth mobility index. T-test, Chi-Square test, Mann–Whitney test binary logistic regression were used frailty, symptom network analysis subgroup symptoms. Results found that while number GSEOH significantly associated (teeth number: β = -0.262, P 0.013) (GSEOH: -0.056, 0.000), centrality was lowest compared other status (CI-S index), in adults, strongest bridge node. Conclusion explored analysis. recommended communities implement routine functional assessments increase denture restoration rate at an early stage, as well educational promotional programs aimed maintaining function. Future research should further analyze causal relationships particularly depth, overall frailty.

Common conditions such as xerostomia, periodontal disease, and denture-related complications are prevalent often compounded by systemic issues, medication side effects, socioeconomic barriers. Effective requires a comprehensive approach that integrates clinical interventions, preventive strategies, patient-specific care plans. Xerostomia, frequently caused polypharmacy, affects lubrication increases risk dental caries. Management strategies include use saliva substitutes, stimulants like xylitol-based lozenges, enhanced hydration practices. This review highlights the key molecular and cellular mechanisms contributing to aging, such as DNA damage, mitochondrial dysfunction, telomere shortening, protein defective autophagy. These biological are involved in various oral health conditions prevalent elderly, including periodontal disease, cancer, xerostomia, dental caries, temporomandibular joint disorders. Exosomes generated by mesenchymal stem cells possess substantial therapeutic potential. exosomes nanosized extracellular vesicles derived from essential intercellular communication tissue homeostasis. The exosome-based therapies proved superior traditional cell-based approaches, due lower immunogenicity, ease of storage, avoidance complications associated with cell transplantation. Furthermore, diagnostic potential non-invasive biomarkers for aging processes age-related diseases offers insights into disease diagnosis, staging, monitoring.
