As the volume of data generated by information systems continues to increase, machine learning (ML) techniques have become essential for extraction meaningful insights. However, sheer often causes these sluggish. To overcome this, feature selection is a vital step in pre-processing data. In this paper, we introduce novel K-nearest neighborhood (KNN)-based wrapper system that leverages iterative improvement ability weighted superposition attraction (WSA). We evaluate performance WSA against seven well-known metaheuristic algorithms, i.e., differential evolution (DE), genetic algorithm (GA), particle swarm optimization (PSO), flower pollination (FPA), symbiotic organisms search (SOS), marine predators’ (MPA) and manta ray foraging (MRFO). Our extensive numerical experiments demonstrate highly effective selection, achieving decrease up 99% number features large datasets without sacrificing classification accuracy. fact, WSA-KNN outperforms traditional ML methods about 18% ensemble algorithms 9%. Moreover, achieves comparable or slightly better solutions when compared with neural networks hybridized metaheuristics. These findings highlight importance potential modern-day processing systems.

This paper presents JADEDO, a hybrid optimization method that merges the dandelion optimizer’s (DO) dispersal-inspired stages with JADE’s (adaptive differential evolution) dynamic mutation and crossover operators. By integrating these complementary mechanisms, JADEDO effectively balances global exploration local exploitation for both unimodal multimodal search spaces. Extensive benchmarking against classical cutting-edge metaheuristics on IEEE CEC2022 functions—encompassing unimodal, multimodal, landscapes—demonstrates achieves highly competitive results in terms of solution accuracy, convergence speed, robustness. Statistical analysis using Wilcoxon sum-rank tests further underscores JADEDO’s consistent advantage over several established optimizers, reflecting its proficiency navigating complex, high-dimensional problems. To validate real-world applicability, was also evaluated three engineering design problems (pressure vessel, spring, speed reducer). Notably, it achieved top-tier or near-optimal designs constrained, high-stakes environments. Moreover, to demonstrate suitability security-oriented tasks, applied an attack-response scenario, efficiently identifying cost-effective, low-risk countermeasures under stringent time constraints.
