Abstract The study investigates the long‐term effects of two core industries India, namely crude oil and electricity on environment by adopting industry‐specific environmental Kuznets curve (IEKC) hypothesis. While is high‐polluting, impact industry less severe. A traditional EKC hypothesis, described an inverted U‐shape, demonstrates relationship between economic growth degradation. tests IEKC individually for each time series data ranging from 1994 to 2021 2019 industry. Carbon dioxide emission levels Index Eight Core Industries are indicators used measure degradation industrial levels, respectively. adopts autoregressive distributed lag approach test findings suggest rejecting hypothesis in Indian industry, indicating its adverse effects. In contrast, acceptance confirms that energy can potentially lower country's pollution level long run. adds existing literature applying India judge their sustainability.
