Abstract Nonsuicidal self-injury (NSSI) is a global health concern. Parental corporal punishment shown to be related NSSI, with unclear underlying mechanisms. The current study tested potential mediator (i.e., depressive symptoms) and moderator the GABRA2 rs279858 genotype) in relationship between parental NSSI. Chinese adolescents ( N = 673; 53% girls; aged 11–14 years) completed self-report measures provided saliva samples for DNA genotyping. A moderated mediation model was tested. results showed that positively associated symptoms partially mediated this association. linkage NSSI weaker among GA or GG genotype carriers than AA carriers. Implications of are discussed.

Background: Non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI) and depression often co-occur among adolescents with more severe clinical symptoms. This study examined the network structures of NSSI depressive symptoms in adolescents. Methods: Participants were recruited psychiatric outpatient clinics three tertiary hospitals between April 10 July 10, 2023. All participants been already found behaviors when enrolled. diagnostic criteria Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9) utilized to collect separately. We performed a analysis visualize correlation each symptom identify core bridging comorbidities. Results: A total 248 patients enrolled study, mean age 15.48 (SD = 1.62). Based on PHQ-9 scores grades, our results showed that incidence non-suicidal behavior was relatively high (N=235, 94.76%), majority having depression. The revealed nodes D-6 "feeling bad, failing or letting yourself your family down", D-1 "little interest pleasure" D-4 tired" most vital central crucial is node NSSI-8 "frequent thinking about self-injury", which connects comorbid network. Conclusion: offers significant symptom-level conceptualization association sample adolescents, not only enhances understanding but also identifies potential treatment targets prevent treat comorbidity adolescent Keywords: self-injury, depression, network, bridge symptoms,

Previous research has established that the quality of peer relationships significantly impacts adolescents' physical and mental health. However, relationship between conflict cyberbullying perpetration remains insufficiently explored. Based on General Aggression Model Strain Theory, this study investigates mediating role depression hostile attribution bias in perpetration, as well moderating gender, aiming to offer a new perspective understanding adolescent perpetration. Employing two-wave survey design, encompassed 900 adolescents (Mage = 13.45, girls 452), collecting data conflict, depression, bias, through self-reported questionnaires. The findings revealed at Time 1 (T1) positively predicted 2 (T2). Depression T2 acted both individually bidirectional chain mediators T1 T2. Gender differences were observed paths "peer → T2" "depression T2." Specifically, compared girls, boys who experienced more likely engage These not only theoretically expand application Theory Model, but also provide practical guidance for prevention intervention among adolescents.

Introduction Relative deprivation is associated with non-suicidal self-injury; however, the mechanisms underlying this association have been largely unexplored. Based on relative theory, functional model of self-injury, and organism-environment interaction model, current study examined mediating role emotional symptoms moderating deviant peer affiliation to determine how when self-injury. Methods Participants were 601 Chinese early adolescents who completed self-report scales measuring deprivation, symptoms, at three time points over course 12 months. Results The results showed that Wave 1 was positively self-injury 3, 2 fully mediated association. Furthermore, 3 moderated pathway from subsequent in model. Specifically, significantly predicted an increase but only high affiliation. Conclusions Our findings can encourage educators consider between individual factors providing interventions for engage

Non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI) is a common and serious injury behavior in children adolescents, however, its treatment remains controversial. Here, using network meta-analysis (NMA), we compared ranked all available therapeutic interventions to explore the best strategy for NSSI adolescents. We searched PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library PsycINFO randomized controlled trials used reduce frequency of adolescents from database inception until Jan. 11, 2025. Primary outcomes were efficacy acceptability. estimated summary odds ratios (ORs) with credible intervals (CIs) random effects models. included 28 comprising 6496 participants. Dialectical therapy (DBT) was better than other interventions. In subgroup analysis, pharmacotherapy psychotherapy significantly aggravated depression (OR = 1.53; 95% CI: 1.10 2.14); these reduced patients self-harm 0.53; 0.30 0.96). also found that increased first 3 months when SSRIs but after months. Psychotherapy seems be choice pharmacotherapy, especially DBT. DBT associated reduction as usual, high confidence evidence. frequently combat symptoms, suggesting clinicians should pay greater attention symptoms NSSI, SSRIs.

ABSTRACT Non‐suicidal self‐injury (NSSI) is a significant public health concern, with severely impacts for adolescent mental health. As awareness of the harmful effects NSSI grows, there an increasing emphasis on understanding underlying mechanisms in this age group. This study explores how internalizing and externalizing issues related to parent–child conflict influence NSSI, focusing roles negative self‐perception (self‐criticism) association deviant peer affiliation relationship. We used questionnaires assess variables including parent‐child conflict, self‐criticism, Deviant affiliation, issues, instances NSSI. As risk for both non-suicidal self-injury and depression increases at adolescence, it is critically important to clarify equivocal findings regarding the temporal ordering of these health concerns. Addressing limitations past research, which included use only two data waves analyses that do not account within-person variance, aim in this study was examine depressive symptoms during adolescence. Two independent samples were examined. One sample (first used by Marshall et al., 2013) consisted 799 Swedish adolescents (11 15 years, Mage = 13.18, SD 0.74; 51% girls). The second a later cohort from same area (N 2760; aged 12 18 13.75, 49% Analyses two-part cross-lagged panel models (CLPMs) random-intercept (RI-CLPMs) semi-continuous distribution NSSI determine if traditional lagged adequate estimating ties. results suggest CLPMs had inadequate fits data. RI-CLPMs showed significant within-person, transactional associations between NSSI. Specifically, mean age around 13 years associated with one year later, turn when average about old. Abstract Background Non‐suicidal self‐injury (NSSI) in early adolescence has been amply documented. However, there little research on the progression of NSSI over time. Most studies have focused risk factors for NSSI, with less attention devoted to understanding role protective factors. This paper aimed expand existing knowledge about development an emphasis impacts such as social support and socioeconomic status (SES). Methods A total 436 adolescents completed self‐report surveys that addressed including friend, family, teacher support, objective subjective SES, at three different points time 2 years. Results Latent growth curve analyses revealed increased across mid‐adolescence. Support from friends family negatively predicted adolescents' initial level. Furthermore, SES rate NSSI. Conclusions These findings contribute influences both interventions education should include considerations value well SES.
