Salicylic acid (SA) is a hormone that modulates plant defenses by inducing changes in gene expression. The mechanisms control SA accumulation are essential for understanding the defensive process. TGA transcription factors from clade II Arabidopsis, which include proteins TGA2, TGA5, and TGA6, known to be key positive mediators of genes such as PR-1 induced application. However, unexpectedly, stress conditions induce accumulation, infection with avirulent pathogen P. syringae DC3000/AvrRPM1 UV-C irradiation, result enhanced induction plants lacking TGAs (tga256 plants). Increased was accompanied isochorismate synthase-dependent production well upregulation several involved hormone's accumulation. In response syringae, previously shown controlled both SA-dependent -independent pathways. Therefore, (and other defense genes) tga256 mutant consistent providing negative feedback regulation and/or Together, our results indicate negatively under production. Our study describes mechanism involving old actors playing new roles regulating homeostasis stress.
