This investigation aimed to evaluate the antidepressant, anxiolytic, and antioxidant effects of Piper aduncum essential oil from northern Peru. The oils were obtained through hydro-distillation using a modified Clevenger-type apparatus. chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) was used assess chemical composition. Behavioral assays in mice antidepressant anxiolytic effects. In addition, capacity performed DPPH, ABTS, FRAP assays. GC-MS analysis revealed that linalool (29.16%), bicyclogermacrene (13.32%), nerolidol (12.38%), β-caryophyllene (10.76%) principal components. results demonstrated significant comparable fluoxetine diazepam, with statistical differences between all groups (p<0.005). IC50 values for 5.9±0.08, 0.20±0.06, 109.5±1.3, respectively. Consequently, exhibits anxiolytic-like modest properties compared controls.

Myocardial ischemia causes extensive damage, further exacerbated by reperfusion, a phenomenon called myocardial ischemia/reperfusion injury (MIRI). Nowadays, the pathological mechanisms of MIRI have received attention. Oxidative stress, multiple programmed cell deaths, inflammation and others are all essential contributing to MIRI. Mitochondria energy supply centers cells. Numerous studies found that abnormal mitochondrial function is an "culprit" MIRI, mitophagy mediated phosphatase tensin homolog (PTEN)-induced kinase 1 (PINK1)/Parkin signaling pathway integral part maintaining function. Therefore, exploring association between PINK1/Parkin pathway-mediated crucial. This review will mainly summarize crucial role in MIR-induced several various potential interventions affect mitophagy, thus ameliorating

This study investigated the chemical composition and potential antibacterial activity of essential oils from propolis Melipona quadrifasciata (MQP) in samples collected cities Paranaguá Guaratuba, Paraná, Brazil, during summer winter. The was analyzed by GC-MS, their minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) determined against standard ATCC strains some clinical isolates (Escherichia coli 06 Staphylococcus aureus 10). oils' MICs were using microdilution 96-well plates showed no significant (MIC ≥ 1024 μg/mL) when used alone. However, enhanced action norfloxacin, gentamicin, ampicillin, especially S. 10. analysis identified 68 compounds, with β-bisabolene β-caryophyllene as predominant constituents. Subsequently, antibiotic-enhancing evaluated. MQP varied according to seasonality location, influenced microclimates cities. results highlight importance enhancing antibiotic activity, particularly Gram-positive bacteria, despite lack standalone activity.

ABSTRACT Male sexual dysfunction, characterised by reduced libido, ejaculatory issues and erectile often results from oxidative stress enzymatic imbalance, notably involving phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) nitric oxide synthase (NOS). This study explores the therapeutic potential of β‐caryophyllene (β‐CBP), a sesquiterpene with antioxidant anti‐inflammatory properties, in mitigating paroxetine‐induced dysfunction rats. Wistar rats were divided into nine treatment groups: control, paroxetine (20 mg/kg/day), sildenafil β‐CBP (10 mg/kg), sildenafil. Sexual behavioural assays evaluated, along markers, including superoxide dismutase (SOD) catalase (CAT) activity penile tissue, assessed using spectrophotometric analysis. CB2 receptor expression was significantly increased β‐CBP‐treated groups, suggesting enhanced cannabinoid receptor‐mediated signalling, which may be linked to improved function. The effects dose‐dependent, 20 mg/kg group displaying most significant improvements. Additionally, restored enzyme activities, SOD, CAT glutathione (GSH) levels effectively reducing stress. shows promise as agent for male enhancing antioxidative capacity modulating balance.

A commercial essential oil used as a control sample study. The analysis focused on key volatile compounds, including α-pinene, delta-3-carene, camphene, DL-limonene (mixture D- L-form), caryophyllene. method more effective for detecting compounds with higher volatility, such which abundant (66.12% headspace vs. 53.13% injection). On other hand, provided sensitivity less caryophyllene (4.82% injection 0.67% Kaburgediği). most significant difference between methods observed detection DL-limonene, showed concentrations (3.76% compared to (1.51%). suggests that is better quantifying lower while capturing overall aroma profile, especially compounds. highlights efficiency based compound's volatility. Therefore, choosing right depends specific interest their volatility characteristics. These findings highlight unique profiles each resin, shaped by both species analytical used, implications aromatic potential pharmacological properties.
