New Species of Ascomycetes from Two Hypersaline Endorheic Lagoon Complexes in Zaragoza Province (Aragon Community, Spain)

Although
certain
hypersaline
endorheic
lagoons
in
Spain
have
been
investigated
to
evaluate
the
composition,
spatial
structure,
and
ecological
roles
of
their
macro-
microbiota,
fungi
inhabiting
these
niches
remain
largely
unexplored.
In
this
study,
we
isolated
several
microfungi
from
Salada
Grande
de
Chiprana
La
Playa
lagoons,
located
Saladas
(Directed
Natural
Reserve
Ramsar
Wetland)
Sástago-Bujaraloz
(Ramsar
Wetland),
respectively.
As
a
result
morphological
characterization
phylogenetic
analysis
using
four
informative
molecular
markers,
report
discovery
two
new
species
genus
Montagnula
(M.),
M.
globospora
terricola,
as
well
one
Monosporascus
(Mo.),
Mo.
auratispora.
globospora,
sediment
sample
lagoon,
is
only
producing
unicellular,
globose
ascospores
inside
cleistothecial
ascomata
with
cephalothecoid
peridium.
terricola
was
originally
soil
Malawi
(ex-type
strain).
However,
also
identified
another
strain
collected
at
lagoon.
The
remarkable
features
are
production
non-cephalothecoid
bicellular,
bi-cupulate
ascospores.
Regarding
auratispora,
it
sediments
characterized
by
golden-brown
that
do
not
turn
black
age.
Also,
due
results
our
analysis,
transferred
Herpotrichia
striatispora
Montagnula,
striatispora,
Montangula
jonessi
Neomontagnula
(N.),
N.
jonessi.

Abstract
This
article
revises
the
documented
diversity
of
known
marine
fungi
from
nine
phyla,
33
classes,
107
orders,
273
families,
767
genera
and
1898
species
reported
worldwide.
A
member
Aphelidiomycota,
Pseudaphelidium
drebesii
,
is
for
first
time
environment,
on
a
diatom.
Likewise,
phylum
Mortierellomycota
listed
following
taxonomic
changes,
as
are
six
subclasses:
Chaetothyriomycetidae,
Savoryellomycetidae,
Sclerococcomycetidae,
Agaricostilbomycetidae,
Auriculariomycetidae
Aphelidiomycotina.
Thirty-three
orders
105
family
names
with
added
to
checklist,
along
641
in
228
genera,
bringing
total
1898.
New
additions
list
highlighted.
Four
new
combinations
proposed:
Stigmatodiscus
mangrovei
Diaporthe
krabiensis
xylocarpi
while
hyphomycete
Humicola
alopallonella
referred
genus
Halosphaeriopsis

A New Genus of the Microascaceae (Ascomycota) Family from a Hypersaline Lagoon in Spain and the Delimitation of the Genus Wardomyces

The
Saladas
de
Sástago-Bujaraloz
is
an
endorheic
and
arheic
complex
of
lagoons
located
in
the
Ebro
Basin
protected
by
Ramsar
Convention
on
Wetlands.
Due
to
semi-arid
climate
region
high
salinity
their
waters,
these
constitute
extreme
environment.
We
surveyed
biodiversity
salt-tolerant
halophilic
fungi
residents
Laguna
Pito,
a
lagoon
belonging
this
complex.
Therefore,
we
collected
several
samples
water,
sediments,
soil
periphery.
Throughout
study,
isolated
21
fungal
species,
including
strain
morphologically
related
family
Microascaceae.
However,
did
not
match
any
genera
within
family.
After
in-depth
morphological
characterization
phylogenetic
analysis
using
concatenated
sequence
dataset
four
phylogenetically
informative
molecular
markers
(the
internal
transcribed
spacer
(ITS)
nuclear
ribosomal
DNA
(nrDNA);
D1-D2
domains
28S
gene
RNA
(LSU);
fragment

established

freshwater
fungi
in
Guizhou
Province,
China,
six
hyphomycetous
collections
were
founded
on
decaying
wood
from
habitats.
These
taxa
characterized
and
identified
based
morphology,
phylogeny,
culture
characteristics.
Phylogenetic
analysis
combined
LSU,
SSU,
ITS,
RPB2
TEF1α
sequence
data
indicated
that
our
isolates
formed
three
distinct
lineages
distributed
within
Fuscosporellaceae
Savoryellaceae.
They
can
be
organized
as
new
species:

Insights into Some Onygenalean Fungi from Freshwater Sediments in Spain and Description of Novel Taxa

During
the
course
of
a
project
investigating
culturable
Ascomycota
diversity
from
freshwater
sediments
in
Spain,
we
isolated
63
strains
cycloheximide-resistant
fungi
belonging
to
order
Onygenales.
These
well-known
ascomycetes,
able
infect
both
humans
and
animals,
are
commonly
found
terrestrial
habitats,
colonizing
keratin-rich
soils
or
dung.
Little
is
known
about
their
aquatic
environments.
Combining
morphological
features
sequence
analyses
ITS
LSU
regions
nrDNA,
identified
14
species
distributed
genera
Aphanoascus,
Arachniotus,
Arthroderma,
Arthropsis,
Emmonsiellopsis,
Gymnoascoideus,
Leucothecium,
Malbranchea,
Myriodontium.
Furthermore,
three
novel
for
genus
Malbranchea
proposed
as
M.
echinulata
sp.
nov.,
irregularis
sinuata
nov.
The
new
Albidomyces
Neoarthropsis
introduced
based
on
Arachniotus
albicans
Arthropsis
hispanica,
respectively.
sexualis
characterized
differentiated
morphologically
its
counterpart
by
production
sexual
morph.
