The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the essential role of urban and rural green spaces for societies coping with global public health crisis. During this particular time, a significant body research was devoted to human–nature relationships, as well use importance spaces, both from management visitors’ perspectives, along vital nature in human wellbeing. Furthermore, experience induced new paradigms spatial planning, forest protected areas seeing crucial shaping long-term socio-environmental resilience sustainability. The COVID-19 outbreak led to major restrictions globally, affecting people's psychosocial health and their behaviors. Thus, the purpose of this scoping review was summarize available research regarding nature in context. Keywords relating natural environments were combined conduct a systematic online search six databases. Eligibility criteria a) published since 2020 with data collected context b) peer-reviewed, c) original empirical on human participants, d) investigated association between or behaviors, e) English, German, Scandinavian languages. Out 9126 articles being screened, we identified 188 relevant articles, representing 187 distinct studies. Most focused adults general population predominantly conducted USA, Europe, China. Overall, findings indicate that may mitigate impact psychological physical activity. Through thematic analysis extracted data, three primary themes identified: 1) type assessed, 2) behaviors investigated, 3) heterogeneity nature–health relationship. Research gaps I) characteristics promote II) investigations digital virtual nature, III) constructs mental promotion, IV) health-promoting other than activity, V) underlying mechanisms relationship based human, geographic characteristics, VI) focusing vulnerable groups. demonstrate considerable potential buffering stressful events level health. The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the importance of incorporating nature-based solutions in urban design, order to create sustainable and resilient cities. Inspired by these events, present study aims at exploring mental health benefits nature exposure during outbreak. Secondarily, we investigate changes use patterns towards green spaces (UGS) blue (UBS) whether extreme conditions, such as a lockdown, can lead an increase people’s appreciation nature. Through online survey, observed that resulted decrease frequency visitation UGS/UBS (p < 0.001). Significant differences were found for exercise 0.001) socialization 0.05) main drivers visiting pre- post-lockdown. Accordingly, rates forests 0.05), playgrounds 0.001), sea differed significantly when comparing two periods. In perception, are important fabric (89%). Green space is needed in urban areas to increase resilience climate change and other shocks, as well for human health wellbeing. Urban green (UGS) increasingly considered infrastructure highly complementary engineered infrastructure, such water transport networks. The needs resilient, sustainable equitable future wellbeing require strategic planning, designing upgrading of UGS, especially where it has been underprovided. We explore the implications these development through a detailed review cited UGS analyses conducted on larger cities Aotearoa New Zealand (AoNZ). There are important differences availability (i.e., quantity), accessibility quality within between cities. Some stem from ad hoc patterns development, topography. They contribute apparently growing inequities UGS. Broader considerations, encompassing Indigenous community values, should be at heart design decisionmaking. Most AoNZ’s aim (at least some extent) densification decarbonisation accommodate population without costly sprawl; however, date, sprawl continues. Our findings indicate clear need provision high-quality, well-integrated servicing denser housing, which typically with demonstrable deficiency.

In 2020, COVID-19 mitigation measures, including lockdowns and travel bans to curtail disease transmission, inadvertently led an "Anthropause" - a unique global pause anthropogenic activities. While there was spike in ecological studies measuring Anthropause effects on environmental indicators, people's experiences of the or its potential inspire change were hardly considered. Hence, we aimed measure appreciation outcomes Anthropause, ecophilosophical contemplations about pandemic, lockdown-triggered biophilia (human's innate love for draw towards nature) test hypothesis that these would be consistently more prominent among already environmentally inclined. To end, developed tested three measures representative sample 993 New Zealanders. Appreciation received highest overall mean ratings, followed by Lockdown-Biophilia Eco-Contemplation.
