Probiotics are studied for their therapeutic potential in the treatment of several diseases, including metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD). Part significant progress made understanding pathogenesis steatosis has come from identifying complex interplay between gut microbiome and function. Recently, probiotics have shown beneficial effects prevention MASLD rodent models clinical trials. Numerous studies demonstrated promising lactic acid bacteria, especially genus Lactobacillus. Lactobacillus is a prominent bile hydrolase bacterium that involved biotransformation acids. This genus’ modulation microbiota also contributes to overall health; it controls microbial overgrowth, shapes intestinal pool, alleviates inflammation. narrative review offers comprehensive summary gut-liver axis attenuate MASLD. It highlights roles hepatic lipid metabolism, insulin resistance, inflammation fibrosis, synthesis attenuating

Dietary interventions represent an interesting alternative to pharmacological treatments for improving the quality of life (QoL) subjects suffering from gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). This randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study aimed evaluate efficacy a food supplement (FS) containing probiotic strain, bioactive peptides, and vitamins in relieving heartburn/dyspeptic symptoms with mild-to-moderate GERD. Fifty-six adult participants were randomly assigned receive placebo or active FS 28 days. Subjects asked record daily frequency intensity heartburn episodes intake over- the-counter (OTC) medications. GERD-QoL self-assessment questionnaires also completed every two weeks at end treatment, respectively. was effective achieving progressive significant reduction severity, intergroup difference treatment period. group reported OTC medication intake, whereas administration did not modify intake. Results QoL showed that achieved statistically intragroup improvement score higher positive response respect treatment.

Irritable bowel syndrome is a common functional gastrointestinal disorder characterized by recurrent abdominal discomfort, bloating, cramping, flatulence, and changes in movements. The pathophysiology of IBS involves complex interaction between motor, sensory, microbiological, immunological, psychological factors. Diversity, stability, metabolic activity the gut microbiota are frequently altered IBS, thus leading to situation dysbiosis. Therefore, use probiotics probiotic-derived metabolites may be helpful balancing alleviating irritable symptoms. This review aimed report consolidate recent progress understanding role dysbiosis as well current studies that have focused on their metabolites, providing foundation for potential beneficial effects complementary alternative therapeutic strategy this condition due absence effective safe treatments.

To exert their beneficial effects, microorganisms used in live bacteria-containing products must be viable and present certain amounts. In this study, we developed a viability assay based on quantitative PCR coupled with propidium monoazide for the identification enumeration of Lactobacillus acidophilus Bifidobacterium bifidum . order to optimize protocol, thermal inactivation conditions two target PMA concentration inhibiting DNA amplification from dead cells while allowing it were first determined. The viability-PCR protocol was then applied analyze commercial product containing microorganisms. quantities both determined using tested significantly higher than those obtained standard plate count, suggesting presence bacteria but non-culturable physiological state. Moreover, lower amounts detected compared achieved PCR, possibly because samples. Our results suggest that method proposed here is suitable alternative rapid accurate quantification assessment L.
