The current study first describes the extraction of phytoantioxidant polyphenols from Carob byproducts (pods) using maceration and heating-assisted as traditional methods ultrasonic-assisted (UAE) an innovative method to determine most efficient process in terms four targeted responses: total phenolic content (TPC), antioxidant activities (TAC DPPH), photoprotective properties measured by sun protection factor (SPF). Second, we used response surface methodology (RSM) with a central composite rotatable design (CCDR) approach investigate influence variables (extraction time, temperature, solvent concentration) on UAE, which was found be effective technique our study. byproduct extracts had TPC ranging 6.21 21.92 mg GAE/g dw, TAC 22.00 49.30 AAE/g DPPH scavenging activity 56.35 90.50%, SPF values 8.62 22.37. optimal UAE conditions for maximum TPC, TAC, DPPH, responses were determined 38.90% ethanol, 53.90 °C, 50.92 min. Using source sustainable bioactive products conjunction optimized is promising contribution cosmetic industry that will help strengthen concept environmentally-friendly “green chemistry”. Given pulp or seeds are considered food byproducts, research presented here encourages use these agri-food waste materials cosmetics.

Inflammaging refers to a chronic, systemic, low-grade inflammation, driven by immune (mainly macrophages) and non-immune cells stimulated endogenous/self, misplaced or altered molecules, belonging physiological aging. This age-related inflammatory status is characterized increased inflammation decreased macroautophagy/autophagy (a degradation process that removes unnecessary dysfunctional cell components). predisposes diseases, including obesity, type-2 diabetes, cancer, cardiovascular neurodegenerative disorders, as well vulnerability infectious diseases vaccine failure, representing thus major target for anti-aging strategies. Phenolic compounds—found in extra-virgin olive oil (EVOO)—are known their beneficial effect on longevity. Among them, hydroxytyrosol (HTyr) appears greatly contribute healthy aging its documented potent antioxidant activity. In addition, HTyr can modulate autophagy, possibly counteracting reducing inflammaging. this review, we reference the literature pure modulatory agent of order highlight possible interference with HTyr-mediated activity might delay development progression related
