The current study first describes the extraction of phytoantioxidant polyphenols from Carob byproducts (pods) using maceration and heating-assisted as traditional methods ultrasonic-assisted (UAE) an innovative method to determine most efficient process in terms four targeted responses: total phenolic content (TPC), antioxidant activities (TAC DPPH), photoprotective properties measured by sun protection factor (SPF). Second, we used response surface methodology (RSM) with a central composite rotatable design (CCDR) approach investigate influence variables (extraction time, temperature, solvent concentration) on UAE, which was found be effective technique our study. byproduct extracts had TPC ranging 6.21 21.92 mg GAE/g dw, TAC 22.00 49.30 AAE/g DPPH scavenging activity 56.35 90.50%, SPF values 8.62 22.37. optimal UAE conditions for maximum TPC, TAC, DPPH, responses were determined 38.90% ethanol, 53.90 °C, 50.92 min. Using source sustainable bioactive products conjunction optimized is promising contribution cosmetic industry that will help strengthen concept environmentally-friendly “green chemistry”. Given pulp or seeds are considered food byproducts, research presented here encourages use these agri-food waste materials cosmetics.

In the search for an eco-friendly fuel, bio-oil is a promising alternative to fossil fuels due its potential reduce environmental impacts and versatility in various applications. According International Energy Agency, biofuel demand will increase by 41 billion liters, or 28%, between 2021 2026. About 5% of primary energy United States came from biomass resources, producing nearly 5,000 trillion BTU. However, major challenge facing production limited lignocellulosic resources as feedstock costly supply chain. Non-edible plant seeds are abundant fruity plants yield with good heating values, but they yet get required attention. They usually discarded after consuming their mesocarp, contributing waste. Also, requires improvement issues like strong corrosive effects, high acidity, water content. This review, therefore, provides overview waste feedstocks using pyrolysis. The findings reveal average 47.85% more bioenergy value than that other tree parts' resources; it can be upgraded catalytic, co-pyrolysis, distillation approaches usage source. highlight also future challenges this source, presenting clean affordable mitigate climate change through cleaner environment, plus new ways recycling

High volume of postharvest materials including peels from citrus fruits is periodically generated, which contributes to environmental pollution. Investigating the chemical composition cum antioxidant property these 'wastes' would be instructive in achieving value addition food and pharmaceutical chain. On this premise, study carried out phytochemical screening activity three (3) commonly cultivated varieties namely Citrus sinensis 'valencia', 'washinton' 'thompson navel'. The were extracted using ethanol hexane a Soxhlet extractor thereafter subjected Gas Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry (GC/MS) analyses, ferric ion reducing power (FRAP), hydrogen peroxide scavenging cupric capacity (CUPRAC) assays evaluate their potentials. Results show that peel extracts contain alkaloids, flavonoids, phenols, phytosterols, diterpenes, tannins glycosides. GC/MS analysis identified about 48 compounds each extract; with predominant bioactive being limonene (16.5%), ascorbic acid (17.7%), stearic (26.3%), linalool (4.7%), linoleic (16.18%), palmitic (15.23%), pentadecyclic (1.1%). Ethanol Valencia exhibited higher FRAP (9.09 ± 0.13) CUPRAC (2.04 0.06) values while extract Ibadan sweet demonstrated greater (1.39 0.00). are rich excellent may serve as potential sources natural antioxidants for products or formulations.
