Plant essential oils are important alternatives in green integrated pest management. This study examined the chemical composition, bioactivity, and control efficacy of four Lamiaceae (EOs) against Thrips flavus Schrank laboratory conditions with goal exploiting plant-derived insecticides to flavus. The EOs tested were marjoram oil (Origanum majorana L.), clary sage (Salvia sclarea perilla leaf (Perilla frutescens (L.) Britt.), spearmint (Mentha spicata L.). All these exhibited a certain degree insecticidal activity median lethal concentration (LC50) was determined after treatment by leaf-dipping method bioassays, its values 0.41 mg/mL for oil, 0.42 0.43 0.54 oil. In pot experiment, number dead insects recorded at 1, 3, 7 days post-application, calculated. 900.00 g a.i.·hm−2 100% treating potted plants seven days. Y-tube olfactometer used test attraction or repellent response significantly attracted female adults olfactory test. Furthermore, gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC–MS) examine composition EOs. Linalool (24.52%), isopropyl myristate (28.74%), (+)-limonene (32.44%), (+)-carvone (70.3%) their primary ingredients. findings suggest that all highly effective may be possible alternative management flavus, especially when considering reducing use synthetic pesticides.

The toxicity of synthetic pesticides to non-target organisms has prompted a shift towards more environmentally friendly agricultural pest control methods, including the use essential oils as possible biopesticides. Before these natural chemicals can be widely adopted for protecting food supplies and human health, it is crucial evaluate their impacts on pollinators, such honey bees. In this study, we examined effects one commercially available oil mixture (EcoTec+) four components (β-bisabolene, cinnamaldehyde, 1,8-cineole, eugenol) bee workers using feeding or spray treatment. We then assessed responses esterase (EST), glutathione-S-transferase (GST), acetylcholine (AChE), P450. EcoTec+ increased P450 transcript, while bisabolene inhibited EST AChE, GST, caused mixed response without being lethal. Cinnamaldehyde exhibited when ingested, suppressing eliciting in AChE. Cineole but response. Eugenol suppressed AChE was toxic contact. also assayed combinations each compound with formulations representative major pesticide categories, though no significant interactions were found. Overall, tested did not cause acute lethal bees; however, biochemical varied, mostly remaining sublethal. These findings suggest that could considered safe around

In soybean fields across Northeast China, Thrips flavus Schrank (Thysanoptera, Thripidae) populations are increasing, posing a significant threat to production. The aim of this study was evaluate the toxicity, insecticide efficacy, and field performance thirty insecticides against T. flavus. Laboratory bioassays revealed that fenthion (LC50 = 2.26 mg/L), sulfoxaflor 4.28 cyetpyrafen 4.94 imidacloprid 6.16 mg/L) exhibited highest toxicity Pot experiments were subsequently conducted assess efficacy. Seven days after application at tested concentration, efficacy fenthion, sulfoxaflor, chlorantraniliprole, bifenazate, malathion achieved 100% control four selected for trials based on their high application, 11.25 g a.i.·hm−2, 1.19 8.10 a.i.·hm−2 exceeded 80%. Thus, these hold strong potential integrated management Overall, findings provide valuable reference developing chemical strategies pest.

Published: April 30, 2025

Abstract In the present study, a novel technology called intermittent solvent-free microwave extraction (ISFME), which integrates treatment with extraction, was proposed. Taking Nanfeng citrus peel as research object, efficiency and composition of its essential oil were evaluated compared conventional hydrodistillation (HD) (SFME). Results from single-factor experiments response surface method optimization indicate that optimal parameters for SFME are power 660 W, duration 20 min, water content 60%, yielding an output 3.47%. contrast, ISFME, determined through experiments, moisture 50%, setting 380 reaction time 6 15-min interval, 4 cycles, resulting in yield 3.51%. Notably, efficiencies ISFME significantly superior to HD, requires 240 min yields only 3.28% oil. Furthermore, demonstrates comparable performance terms time, rate, quality, while operating at substantially lower requirement W needed SFME. Additionally, carbon dioxide emissions energy consumption associated markedly than those traditional methods, amounting one-third These findings underscore not enhances quality but also minimizes environmental impact, thereby highlighting significant advantages sustainability ecological responsibility.
