Background. The COVID-19 pandemic introduced unprecedented social distancing measures, resulting in significant deprivation of physical contact. Objective. This opinion article explores the implications this tactile on psychological well-being, emphasizing its impact emotional and cognitive development. Physical contact, particularly touch mediated by C-tactile fibers, is essential for stability bonding. Methods. Drawing evidence from studies orphaned children primates, argues critical importance reintroducing contact to support mental health. Results. pandemic’s reduction has been associated with increased anxiety, depression, stress, notable declines mood heightened loneliness. Conclusions. While alternative methods such as virtual reality offer temporary solutions, stresses need safe, interactions restrictions ease. Future discourse should focus long-term effects explore effective strategies mitigating impacts similar scenarios.
