Background/Objectives: Retinal vein occlusion (RVO) is a major cause of vision loss globally. Although magnesium (Mg) crucial for vascular health, its association with RVO risk unknown. Thus, we aimed to further examine this association. Methods: This cross-sectional study included participants the Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey 2017-2021 aged ≥19 years (n = 16,358). diagnosis was based on fundus imaging or self-reported. Based their daily Mg intake, categorized into low (<120 mg), intermediate (men: 120-300 mg; women: 120-400 sufficient ≥300 ≥400 mg) intake groups compared characteristics across groups. Results: prevalence 0.7%. Compared non-RVO group, group characterized by older individuals, fewer current alcohol consumers, higher hypertension chronic kidney disease, lower fiber, iron, calcium, vitamin E, Mg. After full adjustment, significantly associated 64% reduced (odds ratio [OR] 0.36, 95% confidence interval [CI] 0.18-0.71, p 0.003). particularly notable among individuals 19-59 (OR 0.18, CI 0.04-0.82, 0.027), those 0.29, 0.13-0.67, 0.003), without glaucoma 0.33, 0.15-0.71, 0.004). Conclusions: Sufficient may reduce adults <60 years, hypertension, glaucoma. Further research should validate benefits supplementation in preventing RVO.

Many investigations have discovered a connection between statins and magnesium supplements. On one hand, increasing research suggests that chronic hypomagnesemia may be an important factor in the etiology of some metabolic illnesses, including obesity overweight, insulin resistance type 2 diabetes mellitus, hypertension, alterations lipid metabolism, low-grade inflammation. Chronic problems seem to prevented by high Mg intake combined with diet and/or other it is known lower frequency cardiac events, stroke, mortality, not lowering LDL-C, but capacity reduce mevalonate formation. That will enhance endothelial function, inhibit vascular smooth muscle cell proliferation migration encourage macrophages promote plaque stability regression while reducing Taking these factors into consideration, we did extensive analysis relevant literature, comparing effects Mg2 statin medications on lipoproteins and, implicitly, key enzymes involved cholesterol metabolism.
