Overcoming the limited bioavailability and extensive metabolism of effective in vitro drugs remains a challenge that limits translation promising into clinical trials. Resveratrol, despite its well-reported therapeutic benefits, is not metabolically stable thus has been utilized as an drug. This because it needs to be consumed large amounts overcome burdens conversion less metabolites. Herein, we summarize more relevant approaches modify resveratrol, aiming increase biological efficacy. We discuss combination therapies, derivatization, use resveratrol nanoparticles. Interestingly, with established chemotherapeutic shown effects on colon cancer (with oxaliplatin), liver cisplatin, 5-FU), gastric doxorubicin). Ovarian cancer is one of the most dangerous gynecologic cancers worldwide, showing a high fatality rate and recurrence due to diagnosis at an advanced stage disease occurrence chemoresistance, which weakens therapeutic effects chemotherapeutic treatments. In fact, although paclitaxel platinum-based drugs (carboplatin or cisplatin) are widely used alone in combination treat ovarian cancer, chemoresistance significantly reduces these drugs. Metformin hypoglycemic agent that commonly for treatment type 2 diabetes mellitus non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. However, this drug also shows anti-tumor activity, reducing risk chemoresistance. This review analyzes current literature regarding role metformin investigates what currently known about its platinum resistance restore sensitivity

Type 2 diabetes (T2D) affects a large part of the adult population and impairs its quality life. Because this, natural compounds with antioxidant, anti-inflammatory hypoglycemic properties have been used as adjuvants. Among these compounds, resveratrol (RV) stands out, polyphenol that has studied in several clinical trials, results which are controversial. We conducted randomized trial on 97 older adults T2D to evaluate effect RV oxidative stress markers sirtuin 1, using doses 1000 mg/day (EG1000, n = 37) 500 (EG500, 32) compared placebo (PG, 28). Biochemical markers, 1 levels were measured at baseline after six months. observed statistically significant increase (p < 0.05) total antioxidant capacity, gap, percentage subjects without oxidant EG1000. In PG, we lipoperoxides, isoprostanes C-reactive protein levels. An score mild moderate was too. Our findings suggest exerts more efficient than mg/day.

Abstract Resveratrol (RES) has various pharmacological bioactivities and its anticancer effects in lung cancer have been proven. However, the underlying mechanisms of action RES remain unclear. This study focused on Nrf2‐mediated antioxidant systems RES‐treated cells. A549 H1299 cells were treated with concentrations at different times. decreased cell viability, inhibited proliferation, increased number senescent apoptotic a concentration‐ time‐dependent manner. Moreover, RES‐induced arrest G1 phase was accompanied by changes proteins (Bax, Bcl‐2, cleaved caspase 3). Furthermore, induced phenotype along senescence‐related markers (senescence‐associated β‐galactosidase activity, p21, p‐γH2AX). More importantly, prolonged exposure time concentration, intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) continuously accumulated, resulting decrease Nrf2 downstream response elements, including CAT, HO‐1, NQO1, SOD1. Meanwhile, ROS accumulation apoptosis reversed N‐acetyl‐ l ‐cysteine treatment. Taken together, these results suggest that disturb cellular homeostasis destroying pool to increase production. Our findings provide new perspective intervention cancer.
