According to the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC), peptides are small proteins with a size between 2 50 amino acids residues. They ubiquitous across evolutionary scale, fulfilling wide variety functions, from immune system effectors in simple organisms signaling or neuromodulating agents high vertebrates. Following nature’s example, have emerged as alternatives various fields. One particularly relevant area is drug discovery, offering face emergence antibiotic-resistant microorganisms. Peptides also prevalent other sectors, such food industry, where they serve additives enhance nutritional characteristics aid preservation. Moreover, increasingly being utilized cosmetics. Additionally, valuable tools both basic applied research, facilitating exploration specific activity mechanisms verification particular activities, among applications. Despite certain limitations disadvantages compared bioactive molecules, remain focal point interest well developmental fields, due their versatility. In this report, we provide an overview extensive application landscape synthetic peptides, presenting examples developed in-house different areas which include summary methodologies results obtained.

Intracellular targets. (A) simplified illustration of a typical mammalian cells with list classes intracellular "druggable" molecules. The increasing popularity peptides and proteins targeted therapeutics is primarily attributed to their inherent advantages, such as precise targeting the reduction side effects, compared traditional nonspecific small molecular drugs. In recent times, another achievement in peptide-based identified potential target protein–protein interactions (PPI) deemed previously "undruggable". As matter fact, precision PPI newfound hope for large number conditions which had no treatment. review explores strategies by molecules, mode activity biological system, transport mechanisms involved, common barriers that need be overcome. It also discusses challenges lab clinic translation focusing on delivery peptides.
