Osteoarthritis (OA) is the most common joint disease, generating pain, disability, and socioeconomic costs worldwide. Currently there are no approved disease-modifying drugs for OA, safety concerns have been identified with chronic use of symptomatic drugs. In this context, nutritional supplements nutraceuticals emerged as potential alternatives. Among them, collagen being a focus particular interest, but under same term different types collagens coexist structures, compositions, origins, leading to properties effects. The aim narrative review generally describe main currently available in marketplace, focusing on those related health, describing their mechanism action, preclinical, clinical evidence. The predominant sources of collagen for cosmetic purposes were traditionally derived from bovine and porcine products, such as bones, tendons, connective tissues. However, these are gradually declining in popularity due to their restricted availability, religious constraints, disease-related concerns. Consequently, there is an urgent necessity explore alternative sustainable sources. Marine species offer a promising supply lower risk disease transmission, freedom restrictions, biocompatibility, molecular weight, production costs, simpler absorption by the human body. This review objective highlights potential marine resources (fishes, poriferans, mollusks, crustaceans, echinoderms, coelenterates) applications. A variety with different extraction techniques will be compared. study finds that fish by-products, particularly skins becoming very encouraging source contrasted other alternatives. They exhibit significant content, comprising up 61.26% dry weight under acid-soluble (ASC) method. Fish skin bone-derived mostly composed type I has been proven possess notable capabilities antioxidant, anti-aging, skin-whitening agent. Therefore, utilization key ingredient cosmetics promotes responsible sourcing, encourages eco-friendly practices, fosters circular economy making most underutilized materials.

In recent years, the sustainability of cosmetic products has received growing interest from industry and consumers due to recommendation implementation circular economy European Green Deal. The sustainable development strategy takes into account reduction waste energy consumption, covers all processes producing using cosmetics, starting method obtaining raw materials, through process cosmetics bulk, selection packaging. Particularly, materials a large impact on emulsion. One way resource recovery is use agro-food by-products discarded produce because most them possess value-added bioactive compounds, such as enzymes nutrients with high functionality. Their may be performed by more extraction processes, leading natural oils, extracts, polymers, phytosterols, vitamins, minerals, unsaturated fatty acids. A relatively new innovative form designing bioavailable fermentation, where bioferments are obtained plant-based food materials. addition, optimization emulsification applying low-energy methods crucial step in cosmetics. This allows not only carbon footprint, but also preservation valuable properties used following paper discusses creating emulsions energy-saving procedures fermentation process.

Collagens are abundant structural proteins found in connective tissues such as bones, swim bladder, skin, blood vessels, intestines, and cartilage. They make up around 30% of the total protein. The purpose this paper is to provide a summary current knowledge about collagen isolated from marine organisms its possible applications. Collagen widely used pharmaceuticals, food, biomedical cosmetic industries due cell adhesion, biocompatibility, safety properties. This review discusses various methods for extracting vertebrates physicochemical Enzymatic extractions might be more effective at than acidic extractions. Peptides derived hydrolysates have biological activity that promotes health relieves symptoms caused by chronic diseases. Aquaculture can help with availability but an integrated technology processing raw materials necessary address negative effects production waste. Marine has many benefits over terrestrial sources including versatility healing skin damage slowing down aging process. advantages discussed along potential biotherapeutic applications bone injuries. development products become strategic direction technological development.
