Cervi cornu extracts have been used in traditional medicine for the treatment of various disorders, including osteoporosis. However, since it is not easy to separate active ingredients, limited research has conducted on their functional properties. In this study, we extracted low-molecular-weight (843 Da) collagen NP-2007 from cervi by enzyme hydrolyzation enhance absorption and evaluated therapeutic effect monosodium iodoacetate-induced rat osteoarthritis (OA) model. was orally administered at 50, 100, 200 mg/kg 21 days. We showed that production matrix metalloproteinase-2, -3, -9, decreased after treatment. The levels tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α, interleukin (IL)-1β, IL-6, prostaglandin E2 were also reduced NP-2007. Furthermore, administration resulted effective preservation both synovial membrane knee cartilage significantly transformation fibrous tissue. verified nitric oxide pro-inflammatory cytokines TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-6 lipopolysaccharides-stimulated RAW 264.7 cells regulation NF-kB MAPK signaling pathways. Abstract Introduction Over the past decade, collagen peptide (CP) supplements have received considerable attention in sports nutrition research. These shown promising results improving personal health, enhancing athletic performance, and preventing injuries some but not all studies. Objective A systematic review meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) has been conducted to investigate effects long-term daily supplementation on strength, musculotendinous adaptation, functional recovery, body composition healthy adults, both with without concurrent exercise interventions over several weeks. Methods The PRISMA PERSiST guidelines were followed for this literature review, which was December 2023 using PubMed, Scopus, CINAHL, SPORTDiscus databases. Eligible studies included healthy, normal overweight adults 17 years age who engaged a minimum 8 weeks (except one 3-week trial only maximal strength). Studies examining recovery-related outcomes also eligible if they 1-week period exercise. Methodological study quality assessed PEDro scale. random-effects model standardized mean differences (SMD) change scores chosen calculate overall effect sizes. Results Nineteen comprising 768 participants meta-analysis. indicate statistically significant favor CP intake regarding fat-free mass (FFM) (SMD 0.48, p < 0.01), tendon morphology 0.67, muscle architecture 0.39, strength 0.19, 48 h recovery reactive following exercise-induced damage 0.43, = 0.045). Conclusion This represents first comprehensive investigation into combined regular physical training various aspects musculoskeletal health adults. findings significant, though certainty, improvements (FFM), morphology, mass, damage.
