Abstract A bio-inspired strategy has recently been developed for camouflaging nanocarriers with biomembranes, such as natural cell membranes or subcellular structure-derived membranes. This endows cloaked nanomaterials improved interfacial properties, superior targeting, immune evasion potential, and prolonged duration of systemic circulation. Here, we summarize recent advances in the production application exosomal membrane-coated nanomaterials. The structure, manner which exosomes communicate cells are first reviewed. is followed by a discussion types their fabrication methods. We then discuss applications biomimetic membrane-cloaked tissue engineering, regenerative medicine, imaging, treatment neurodegenerative diseases. Finally, appraise current challenges associated clinical translation membrane-surface-engineered nanovehicles evaluate future this technology.

Abstract Diabetic wounds have imposed a significant burden on both patients and society with prolonged healing processes hindered by dysfunctional skin repair cells. Small extracellular vesicles (sEVs), as the important media for intercellular communications, show promising therapeutic potential in treating diabetic restoring cellular functions. However, low yields limited bio‐function of sEVs greatly challenge their large‐scale clinical use. Here, we briefly overview biogenesis uptake sEVs, emphasize current advances improving optimizing function engineering approaches, summarize applications engineered wound treatment. Furthermore, undissolved issues during transformation are also discussed. This critical review aims to provide meaningful guidance future management wounds.

Exosomes are small subtypes of extracellular vesicles (EVs) naturally released by different types cells into their environment. Their physiological roles appear to be multiple, yet many aspects biological activities remain understood. These can transport and deliver a variety cargoes may serve as unconventional secretory vesicles. Thus, they play crucial role important vectors for intercellular communication the maintenance homeostasis.
