Abstract Biomass has become a key contender in the race to find sustainable energy options, as we move toward more environmentally friendly future. This extensive assessment explores potential of biomass transform global landscape. We have examined different conversion technologies, including thermal technologies such combustion and gasification, well biochemical anaerobic digestion biofuel production, delved into renewable nature biomass, which is derived from organic sources agricultural residues, forestry waste, special crops. highlight adaptability for production energy, heat, biofuels. Furthermore, evaluated socioeconomic environmental impacts use, greenhouse gas emissions, land community effects. To increase source, it essential understand how these three factors interact. maximize while curtailing problems, this review examines obstacles, ongoing research, recent developments effective biomass-based systems. Africa accounts for only about 4% of global greenhouse gas emissions, the lowest any continent, yet it suffers disproportionately from impacts climate change. Additionally, continent faces significant energy poverty, exacerbating its vulnerability. Due to lack electricity and clean cooking facilities, ~600 million ~900 population are deprived these basic needs. Thus, this has significantly hindered both economic progress human capital development. This study provided a comprehensive assessment potential associated with selected agricultural residues in Africa, focusing on promoting circular economy principles through bioenergy production. The also examined possible countries chosen based their farming productions activities. crop production data were acquired United Nations Food Agricultural Organization Statistics database, while other necessary obtained literature analyzed. Through combination empirical analysis modeling techniques, we estimate highlight role practices. Bioethanol averaged 62.62 millions tonnes oil equivalent (Mtoe), biomethane was 83.05 Mtoe, solid biofuel 139.79 Mtoe. findings offer valuable information feasibility viability utilizing production, offering solutions address challenges fostering environmental sustainability Africa. Biofuels may cut emissions. These reductions require careful selection management, processing, delivery biofuels point use
