Abstract
Teachers
of
English
as
an
Additional
Language
learners
in
high
schools
have
long
navigated
the
seemingly
intransigent
deficit
thinking
about
their
learners'
capacity
to
engage
fully
with
intended
or
required
curriculum.
These
are
frequently
constructed
problem,

curriculum
