Sea buckthorn (Hippophae rhamnoides L. or Elaeagnus L.) is a plant that has long been used as Chinese herbal medicine. This species known to contain numerous bioactive components, including polyphenols, fatty acids, vitamins, and phytosterols, which may be responsible for its medicinal value. Breast cancer is still the most common malignant tumor that threatens female's life in world, especially triple-negative breast (TNBC), one of difficult subtypes. Lack targeted therapies brings about urgent demand for novel treatments. In this study we aim to investigate anti-tumor activity Berberine (BBR), a Chinese plant-derived alkaloid, against TNBC cell line MDA-MB-231 and elucidate its mechanism referring anti-inflammation. Our results confirmed can effectively affect both outgrowth spontaneous metastasis TNBC, identified new associated pathway, suggesting therapeutic relevance clinical use.

Gut microbiota has been implicated in the pharmacological activities of many natural products. As an effective hypolipidemic agent, berberine (BBR)'s clinical application is greatly impeded by obvious inter-individual response variation. To date, little evidence exists on causality between gut microbes and its therapeutic effects, linkage bacteria alterations to variation.This study aims confirm causal role BBR's anti-hyperlipidemic effect identify key that can predict effectiveness.The correlation variation was studied hyperlipidemic patients.
